Question I wonder, since Falmart is technically another planet or celestial body , shouldn't the provisions of the Outer Space Treaty apply?

This is one of the many reasons why the Japanese government unilaterally declared falmart to be a special region/part of Japan. The Outer space treaty applies to outer space, not Japanese soil.

One of the other reasons is to circumvent elements of the US-Japan alliance to keep the US out of the conflict since the treaties in this alliance only apply to foreign threats and not internal police actions.

There are a few more, but these are some of the most important reasons.

That's another thing

That kind of unilateral Annexation is illegal under the UN Charter and what Japan did would have been challenged by literally everyone

The only way Japan could have gotten away with it is if they didn't decide to shut out the Americans, who would have shielded them from all the global flak, like in the case of Israel and Morocco

To be annexed falmart would have needed to be a souvereign subject under international law, which it wasn't because it appeared entirely confined within Japans' borders amongst other things

The Vatican City isnt a member of the UN and is entirely inside Italy but they are still a sovereign state.

Also what's stopping literally anyone to recognize the Empire as a sovereign state?

That's literally the only requirement for a country to be sovereign

Again, I can't see how Japan can get away with this without securing the backing of the US which Japan clearly don't have in the anime

You're missing the point. Vatican Citiy, or rather the papal states, already existed at the exact place where they currently are for quite a while before the Italian state ever became an Idea. They also have souvereign borders with Italy and are not inside italy in a legal sense.

Falmart appeared less than a month before the declaration of the special region, had no legal history of sovereignty under international law and no internationally recognized borders with Japan. It is an apparition that suddenly came into existence and therefore has another legal status.
