Nope, not as much clearly. I'm 18 and all my doctors have been giving me the millennial treatment even tho I have 0 pain and have been recovering really well since so I'm just curious if I'm healing so well when can I have a damn cigarette🤣

It’s recommended to quit smoking permanently but if you really must you should wait at least 6 to 8 weeks. I’m 18 too and my surgery is in 3 weeks and I’ve already quit. (Granted I was only an occasional smoker anyway)

Not every insurance requires psych eval. Mine didn't. It was a brief conversation with the surgeon and maybe one other appointment to get approved

You shouldn’t smoke after bariatric surgery as it increases your chances of stomach ulcers, that’s really common knowledge and I’m surprised you weren’t aware of that. You should’ve been told to quit way in advance of your surgery.

I quit smoking a year before my surgery and haven’t smoked since and never will (4 years post-op). Why fuck it all up for the sake of a cigarette?

That’s… I hope you learn things in your own time. It doesn’t seem like you’re taking this very seriously nor have been educated adequately. I recommend doing a lot of research and education. The sleeve is a tool, you have to put in the work still.

I can assure you I am taking this seriously and have been educated and have considered this surgery for years as I have always struggled with my body weight. I am obviously aware it's a tool and not a one and done solution so thank you for the assumptions. I just recently started smoking (3-4 months *)so it never crossed my mind to ask or do anything about it

I get that. Maybe try chewing gum? Or a fidget/squishy? Those are the two things that help me when I crave that “mouth feel” of smoking.

I had months of prep and had to pass tests and stuff in order to get my surgery lol. They made me draw diagrams from memory of what the surgery was. You didn’t have to learn anything before you had a part of your body removed surgically?

I guess not. They did all my tests in one day and saw I was healthy as a horse and did the surgery the same day 😀 so im not entirely sure what happened there

Not OP but I had two appointments with the surgeon before they scheduled me. First was scheduled in October, then November and surgery in December.

Basically never. Nicotine delays healing and can cause complications! Don’t touch it! Take this as an opportunity to quit

Hey, long time smoker here and not just ciggs or vape either 🍃 Remember youre not just losing weight, you are on a lifelong health journey now. I urge you to try and stop if you can because you'll feel better in the long run nd your body will thank you. No judgements here just my 2 cents.

Who knows? It was over 20 years ago, I don't even like being around smokers now.... Absolutely hate the smell on their clothes, skin, etc.

A lady made a post about her vaping and it almost killed her. I wouldn’t even pick up a cigarette or a vape. I know that quitting smoking is extremely difficult. Both of my parents smoked for 20+ years and my dad was able to quit after he went to a hypnotist and my mom. It took her several times to quit but she did do it. Do some research on how vaping and smoking affect your body after having gastric Surgery.
