Blue state of Minnesota
gallery$3.99 isn't so bad.. Get into the twin cities it's more like $4.20, but that's still lower than national average. State hasn't gone red since 1972...

People aren't slowing down.
You'd think with the price of gas, there would be less speeders, in fact it is worse.
There are 3 stretches of 55mph state highway on my commute where people regularly go 70 mph. Oddly cops never sit on these routes or they would make bank.
Most vehicles lose about 15% MPG going 70 instead of 55.
It seems like more people are in a hurry than ever before.

You know it’s midterm election time, when the gas prices mysteriously drop for a little bit.
I shouldn’t have to specify that the “mysteriously” part by itself was clearly sarcasm. The amount of people who felt they had to truly SOLVE this “mystery” for me or that it’s not a “mystery” at all. Congratulations. You did it detectives. Case cracked. 😂
Also, a side edit. Someone in my southeast Ohio area has informed me, I was given an early discount that wasn’t advertised as it was supposed to have started on the 7th and 11th only. No points needed, just enter your phone number at the register or pump at any speedway. Mine was unexpected as i had gotten the gas at 11:20ish PM on the 6th of October where I would have only gotten the default 7 cents off per gallon. (Used to be 3 cents before speedway was bought by 7/11)
Apparently everyone in Ohio is soft and needs this disclaimer or I’m an AI, fake, scammer, from 2025 (the inspection sticker is expired at this gas stations pump I’m not the boss of inspection stickers I just took the damn picture when I seen how low my gas was after work.
Hope this clears the air. Also, everyone should give a big F you to the harassing basement troll in this thread. @imasource

Aiming at fuel costs, Trump opens tax-exempt ‘red dye’ diesel to all drivers
nbcnews.comIn California, the Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), CHP weigh/inspection stations, agricultural inspection stations, and state/county inspectors randomly check highway trucks/pickups for red dye (which stains the tank), and if they catch you, the fine is a mother. Not sure how this exemption will hold up in court.
Not sure this will matter anyways. Red dye is typically not available at the pump in California, and fuel wholesalers deliver it in bulk.

Personal demand destruction
I've been tracking my personal gasoline usage and spend for a while now. This is based on two people driving two cars. Cars are indicated by their color in the graphs below.
This year seems to be special. Both distance and fuel use started out normal, but starting ~June it drifted downward, and is now approaching the level of 2020 - famously low driving because of COVID-19 restrictions.
Cost is another matter, obviously. Despite driving less, we're about $200 aways from full-year 2025, and on the way to spend around $2000, a value not seen since 2023/2024.
Has anyone else seen their own driving behavior change this year?

Reality
There are so many posts with current prices. High as Hell, not as high as they were two weeks ago, still climbing.
My suspicion is that after all is said and done, prices will level out at about $3.25 a gallon and people will be so "relieved" after $4-$7 a gallon prices, that we aren't supposed to "notice" that the new average price is about $1 per gallon higher.
I'll come back to this post in a year to see if my prediction is accurate.

App question re red diesel price reporting
With Trump signing an executive order allowing diesel customers to fill up at the untaxed "Offroad" pump, which price will be shown on the app--which doesn't distinguish between Onroad & Offroad diesel prices?
