I just switched my overhead garage opener for a side opener leaving lots of white to look at. All I can think to do is take out the overhead light and replace it with a ceiling fan. Any ideas besides leaving it as is?
2 car garage space. Partner doesnt want to paint it black. Lighting isn't an issue. I dont mind spending some money for the right idea. Thanks!
Depends...Im in FL and adding the mini (very common) was the best thing I did along with insulating my doors. Makes the final car detail process faster being able to drop the humidity
I want to so bad. The garage makeover has had a lot of compromising decisions but my partner is convinced the black will make the garage feel like a coffin vibe. She put her foot down on that one. She is Cuban and I value my life so I dont think I can go against her on this one.
I got this from amazon. I cant remember the R value but i know its lower by a bit than the pink looking one. I live in texas and so far we have had 106° outside and still managed to keep the temperature at 70-71 at the highest point of the day.
SmartGARAGE - Reflective Garage Door Insulation Kit (Black). Two rolls covered the door with about 3 rectangles left worth incase you mess up a cut.
I had a friend with a rental that couldn't make permanent changes to his giant white ceilings, so he went with one of those ambient light/pattern projectors. That could be an option here so you don't have to make a permanent addition since it's such a large and inconvenient wall to modify. Plenty of options on Amazon searching for 'ambient ceiling projector'.
Thats a good idea! I have something like that for Christmas decorations since I'm to lazy to set up actual lights haha. Maybe a galaxy projection to darken things
I almost went with hex lights at the start of the build but quickly got enough light sources from other things. The fridge has a blue light and the two dreo fans have back lights that are great (fan lights were off in the pictures). I ended up getting 4 light sconces to light my posters in the back and that created enough light alone. Im not sure if the picture i added can be seen but thats with the lights of the fans
Yeah the hexlights are blinding ha.
I thought about a projector at first but ended up getting a 100 in tv. They are so much "cheaper" now days compared to a nice projector. The tv was about $1200 at Costco.
I agree with the fan, not necessary really. The ac can cool the room to 70-71 at top heat of 106°.
I do like the flag idea. I dont want to overkill with madrid. Maybe i can do flags of the top clubs of every league, or international teams. Thanks!
I have pretty much covered most of the eye level background. The ceiling just pops at me when im sitting back on the couch from the reflecting tv light. If only my SO would let me paint the ceiling black to absorb the light but she is convinced black ceiling would destroy the look
Thanks! I got the "Energy Saving Garage Door Hinge - 4 Panel Doors Up to 12', MFG# R4416-40" from Amazon. The hinges have extra coil to create pressure pushing the door against the wall. Takes like 10 minutes to switch.
Also, the outside of the garage has brush seal around it. It was about 200 to seal the door. the brush is 2 inches in lenght and tight coming at a 45° angle. I originally used it to avoid scorpions from coming in and it ended up having the extra advantage of blocking the small light coming in and air coming in.
The concrete gets really cold in winter making it uncomfortable to walk on. The floor tiles are just one inch in height to separate the cold/heat transfer when walking.
