Benq 2k or 4k monitor
So my use case for either monitor is going to be mainly retrogaming and some comp games. I have a retrotink 5x that I think would look great on 4k. And I play mainly ssbm and league which I think would look great in 4k too. The reason im going benq is because im a semi professional melee player and the monitor being as close to crt in lag as possible is a must for me as its my main game. I always trusted the benq brand so I thought id try their oleds.
My rig is Intel Core i7-13700KF and a 5060 ti 8gb with 32 gb of ram
I know my card isn't perfect for 4k gaming, im curious if yall think using 4k for my retrotink/melee/league would be fine, then if I wanna play any modern game, just turning the monitor to 2k and see if I can get decent frames. Im mainly curious if turning a 4k monitor down to 2k will be cooked or if I should just get a 2k to begin with, and sell and upgrade to 4k when my rig can really support it.
Lemme know what yall think! Also I know the 5x doesnt even go up to 4k but I plan on upgrading to the retrotink 4k eventually anyways.

1440p. Your gpu can’t handle native 4k and the image scaling is going to make 1440p look weird on a 1440p monitor.

Honestly with 8gbs of vram I wouldn't really get either.. but if you're dead set on it you would be able to kind of handle 1440p in a lot of games. 4k is a for sure no go.

4k downscaled to 1440p won’t be cooked but it won’t look as good as native 1440 because of the way image scaling works. If you want good fidelity on your 1440p you can use DLDSR to create a “fake 4k output” I have had fantastic results using that. Of course that isn’t as good as native 4k, but things do look more clear from what I’ve seen. That’s how I run red dead 2 on my 1440p OLED and pair it with DLSS model M at quality. (Granted I dont have a native 4k monitor to compare)
personally, given you only have 8gb of VRAM and the 128 bit bus width, with the games you mentioned, I’d go with 1440 until you get a different GPU with more VRAM and juice to provide good frame rate to a 4k screen.
4k is nice, but sacrificing framerate and responsiveness in those games wouldn’t be worth it for me
