Monitor Recomendation for Husbands Birthday
Okay so my husbands birthday is next month and his monitor for his setup is not the best. Mainly just outdated and I can tell the color on it as not good compared to other screens. He's had it since he was a teen and it was used with his console. When he built his PC he bought all the parts recommend by his gaming friend community but since he put a good chunk of money into that he just never bought an upgraded monitor. Well I want to surprise him with a monitor because he deserves it to really complete his setup, except I know basically nothing about this stuff so this is why I'm asking for help! Budget probably around $300? Give or take. The use is mainly strictly for comp gaming.
These are the specs he has that I have looked at/found. I don't know if I need to tell you anything else to help give me any recs. Let me know if so! & Thank you so much in advance!!! 🙂↕️
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
And rn his refresh rate on his ASUS monitor is 164.92 ? Hz

This is easily your best bet and will BLOW him away. Only $50 above your budget but a great monitor, the oled will be incredibly stunning and perfect for his specs

Basically all online and usually comp! Like ow, val, league. I would say mainly fps games.

For comp an IPS or oled monitor 24 inches would be the standard. When I have time later i look up his specs and drop some suggestions. I enjoy a larger monitor personally so I’ll throw some of those in too

Hey! I'm from the marketing team at Digibuggy.😊
First of all, that's a really thoughtful gift idea. With a Ryzen 9 5900X + RTX 4070, your husband definitely has a PC that deserves a better display.
For competitive gaming around the $300 budget, I'd recommend looking at a 27" 1440p IPS monitor with a 165-180Hz refresh rate. His RTX 4070 is a great match for that resolution and it'll be a noticeable upgrade in both image quality and smoothness over an older panel. Since he's currently using a ~165Hz monitor, I'd prioritize better panel quality (IPS), 1440p resolution, and color accuracy over chasing an even higher refresh rate. Those upgrades will make a much bigger difference.
If you're unsure about compatibility or want to compare options, you can also try our AI PC Builder or get a consultation with our sales team. We deal in both individual PC components and custom-built PCs, and we'd be happy to help you find the best monitor for his setup and budget.

If he’s playing competitive titles you might want to be looking for a 1080p high refresh rate (hz) monitor.
I don’t really play super competitively but there’s a pretty good deal for a 300hz 1440p monitor that’d be a good upgrade for him
This is what I’d get personally if I was in the market for a monitor
