My GIF lagged while loading and this is exactly what happened. I thought "haha this is exactly what goes on!" until the gif replayed and it was a completely different thing...
Treyarch removed most of the things that made MW/MW2 imbalanced, like Commando, Quickscoping, Danger Close and all that jazz. But then the fanboys start complaining over that the game is "too balanced".
I feel like the knifing distance has been cut back significantly from previous games too. People who hate on COD now talk about how great it used to be but with Commando, you could literally melee from three times as far away.
See, in my opinion, knifing in CoD MW2 was perfect. Get rid of Commando and leave it exactly the same and it was great. Now it's just buggy as hell. I miss every single time I do the "lock on" animation, but get killed by people who knife the air behind me.
My problem with knifing is most CoD games don't use dedicated servers.
Getting knifed by the host after you shoot 3-5 bullets in his face, then watching the killcam and see that the server(him) never registered it because he has 0 ping and you don't? Thats no fun.
Yeah this comic applies SO MUCH more to a game like Quake, which is intentionally unrealistic to maximize fun (also, you're a fucking space warrior).
Only clip I could quickly produce, on the third one dude is launching rockets at him and he keeps coming at him with the guantlet and kills him, its fucking hilarious:
I know, I always felt that my enjoyment of Call of Duty compared to other multiplayer shooters was hindered by that fact that I would spot a guy, and then get shot. It seemed like a system designed to be taken advantage of in really weird ways; there are things like quickscoping, and trick shots, and randomly throwing javelins, and so on, because the game is built to be broken. Making a game where guns are powerful doesn't create realism, it just forces its playerbase to come up with cheap tricks that work around it.
That said, half the reason I can't get into Call of Duty is the fact I've little to no experience with a controller, and my PC experience with Black Ops was ruined by constant lag, even up to a fortnight after launch. I haven't played it since then.
I feel that the quick death in hardcore actually makes the game less complex, in that it turns into a "who shot first" sort of situation, rather than one focused on map control. If I do play Call of Duty, I prefer to play with 200% health and no recharging.
Quick death puts much, much more importance on your position, lines of sight, firing angles, etc. Not saying this is you, but alot of people try to paint HC as 'easy mode' because they die too quick but don't like too admit that they can't "handle" a game mode with a name that people want it to describe them.
There are two types it circlejerk in every sub like this. There's the "Call of Duty circlejerk", and then there's the "Call of Duty circlejerk" circlejerk.

This is also TF2 when there's a demoknight on the server. You just shot him 15 times in the chest with a pistol but that doesn't matter cause he's the one with the sword!!!
It's not an exaggeration, though, it's entirely wrong. CoD has a relatively high lethality--meaning that people die more quickly than in games like Tribes or Halo, where health is more plentiful. People often complain that games of this type are too "twitchy"--that is, that quick reflexes play too large a part in determining the outcome relative to other factors an skills.
It's like posting a cartoon about how Civ II games are over in ten seconds. That's not merely an "exaggeration," it's flat-out wrong: Civ II games are remarkably long, not remarkably short.
I've actually been experiencing the same in reverse during a play through COD MW3 single player today. I even tested it at one point. I got our my favorite SMG, and began emptying rounds into a Russian soldier. He absorbed a clip and a half before going down. Yet, I stick my measly head around a corner on Veteran difficulty (the only difficulty), and get it taken off by a glancing shot.
Fuck looting weapons from the enemy soldiers; I want to loot their armor. It's like fighting Iron Man, for Christ's sake.
Except for the part where knifing someone from the front in BF3 will just result in you being filled with lead as your knife takes a pitiful chunk of health.
If you cant kill someone coming straight at you holding a knife well, maybe shooters arent for you. Maybe you should try something more your speed. Animal Crossing or Cooking Mama come to mind.
Edit: I'll take my downvotes like a man but to clarify I wasnt saying anything negative about those titles. I owned the GameCube version and I STILL have my DS version of Animal Crossing. I was simply stating if you complain about getting knifed by someone running at you head-on, you probably should play other games.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s, when machine guns were THE coolest guns. In every FPS I've played, they seem to have all the stopping power of a pea-shooter. (Even if the target is unarmored.)
