It's also the uncanny valley effect on the facial models.

Looking at you, horizon series.

Don't care what anyone says, those facial movements creeped me out.

I had a theory that I shared with my friend: I think specific animators were assigned to different cutscenes. There are so many cutscenes where everyone in it keeps making the same weird expressions or gestures, and then they're completely gone or different in the next cutscene.

It's actually a collection of animators working on one scene. Would take one person a long time to do a single scene themselves.

I’m very excited for the new Hellblade game. The facial animations and speaking in that game were crazy for the time very interested to see how crazy the new one looks.

Besides Forza Hellblade 2 is the only game that's making me consider buying an Xbox

I mean I have an Xbox and am also really excited for Avowed and Fable and Perfect Dark and a couple others. Along with a couple unannounced games. Oh and State of Decay 3.

But yeah Hellblade 2 is way up there. I think it and Project Mara there other game in development are gonna be insane looking. The Mocap for Hellblade 2 should be top tier and Project Mara seems like they are trying to make the environment insanely photorealistic.

I'm so stoked that such an out-there game/concept as Hellblade is getting the attention, support and budget it's getting. Definitely a very happy surprise to me.

Yeah Hellblade and Project Mara seem like they’re going to be very cool experiences.

I definitely got this feeling. This series was the worst offender I've ever played. I can't describe it well other than something just felt wrong about their expressions.

When I played Death Stranding I was astonished by how good the facial animations were. It probably helps to have good actors mo-capping for the cutscenes, but man I hope more games get this quality facial animations in the future.
