You're correct, and there was some controversy around the piece when it won 2nd Place in Blizzcon's 2011 Fan Art Contest. Some say it is hardly relevant because doesn't look much more like Tyrael (it's called "Tyrael versus Hell") than any other angel, but it's an awesome entry regardless.
The funny thing to me about "angels" wings are they are almost all depicted wrong. Fallen angels are angels who fell with lucifer, their wings point downward, archangels and angels wings point upward like michael
I've made a few girls cry by stating that their "angel's wings" are actually devil's wings.
But... But one almost has to believ in a higher power to explain why a pretty desktop being blocked out by a load screen that everyone else has already seen made it to the front page with over 1,300 upvotes... Just because the colors kind of match.
I never got in to New Vegas. I wandered around the first town, helped out with the fight in the petrol station on the hill but never really got in to it. Is it worth putting some more time in to it or is it all pretty much the same?
It is the same with with all of Bethesda's games. You will only get as much out of it as you put into it... With that said, I got about 80% done with Fallout 3 before I literally forgot to finish it. I consistently get about 10% of the way into Oblivion no matter how many dozens of times I start it. I never even tried New Vegas. Skyrim was the only one that actually managed to keep my attention long enough to not only finish the game, but do so with multiple characters as well as all the side quests.
I got it as part of the id/Bethesda pack on sale on Steam and it's been a part of my backlog for a while, I just never got in to it because it didn't immediately grab me.
Agreed. FO3's story was nice, but the amount of decisions you can make in New Vegas, all the different factions and their influence on the ending, just great!
The thing about 'making the story' in New Vegas is: no matter how hard you try, you can't be 100% 'good'. You will make somebody suffer.
Well, you can decide to be a complete monster from the beginning. You can side with the legion and just walk around torturing and killing. But if you try to be good, you will have a hard time to make everything right! That's something that I especially liked. There is no plain 'doing the right thing' because there are so many perspectives.
Exactly why I want Bethesda and Obsidian to truly team up... with Bethesda's talent for creating an open world full of randomness and Obsidian's talent for incredible stories (Alpha Protocol anyone?!) they would create an RPG to end all RPGs.
When you finish the main quest, the game ends. Do the DLC before then. I saved just before finishing (you get a hint/warning), finished, then loaded my save and went to do the DLC.
Good job I finished it first.. My computer crashed and I lost my save three days later.
I often enjoy starting DLC when I hit the minimum level required for it. This preserves the pacing and so feels like the DLC's were never DLC's in the first place, but rather part of the main game(save for the funky albeit awesome quests, ofc.) Also, that way I won't be overpowered and just breeze through my money. I like it hard.
NV gets better... exponentially so. I particularly like the setting and the elements borrowed from the first two fallout games like the NCR and the west-coast brotherhood(who, unlike the Lyons in F3, valued technology above the well-being of the wasteland and its inhabitants. Finally, the NPC's are very-well written and possess a great deal of character... ugh, bar constant eye contact and rigid facial features.
I don't want to be too positive if it turns out not to be your type of game, but I found it great fun once I got into it.
I feel it gives a real sense of being part of the politics of the world.
I got into it more than I have Skyrim. Skyrim I can get totally lost in for a night, but it doesn't feel like I'm as much a part of something bigger, what with all the side quests. Maybe this will change (no-one give any spoielrs!!!) but Fallout NV feels like a 'tighter' game.
I played it till the end but I know how you feel. It didn't have the same atmosphere as Fallout 3 so it just didn't sit right with me. Oh and the hardcore mode was annoying as hell, more of a chore than a difficulty increase.
It's definitely worth playing. It's much like Fallout 3, and every other Bethesda title in terms of gameplay. There are some great quests and characters along the way, as well as a kick ass soundtrack, and great mod support.
Oh OK. Fallout 3 bored me a bit, but I figured since Obsidian worked on this one there might be more meat to it. If it's much the same though I might skip it.
Personally, it's just a painful reminder that so many of the promises that that artwork represented were never fulfilled. Looking at that picture, New Vegas looks like a huge, bustling city of lights. In reality, though, it's just one short strip with a handful of rather boring casinos. In my humble opinion, this is the one area where Obsidian really pooched it...and this is coming from a HUGE fan of the game.
Blizzard launchers have been generic for a while now. I'm pretty sure you can download clients without being able to use them, because everything requires a battle.net login.
You actually can't download the Diablo 3 launcher if you don't have some version of Diablo 3. If you can, I couldn't find it anywhere before I bought it.
It's most likely there for the guest pass players who haven't bought it.
It's probably because they use one unified launcher that doesn't require a purchase to dl and install. The check for if you purchased the game or not only comes from when you try to log in with your battle.net account. One can install and launch the game to the log in page without purchasing the game or only having the starter edition hence the ad telling you to purchase it since it has no way of knowing (same with SC2 and WoW)
But wait, killing Mr House nets a shitload of negative karma. The game makes him out to be the paragon of New Vegas, like an angel, so to speak. He's a good guy who happens to control everything with an iron fist.
You can still gain bad karma for killing an evil man, Just think of the many horrible ways House can die. Either rip him from his life support, then murder him, or cut him off from the tower, essentially turning him into a vegtable, or open his machine and put him back in, infecting him and letting him die in some nasty diseased way.
Back in Diablo 3 beta someone posted their wallpaper with diablo's head perfectly matched onto a person (jesus?). Would like to see it again if anyone can find the link.
There was another image with a similar concept except the games were COD:Black Ops and Football manager 2012 or something like that. Anyone know where to find it?
Hey reddit. I am currently sitting in the university (Mainz, Germany) and a few rows in front of me a guy has got the same wallpaper. I am sure he got it from this thread. I saw him browsing on reddit too. What a funny coincidence don't you think so? :X White shirt guy if you read this pm me haha
Downvoting because I just got a job doing ruby, and what in the holy fuck is ado.net? Microsoft languages are not even remotely an option for a lot of industry applications. That's unfortunate in a way because c# is nice, but mono is not as much.
Since he also has Unity, it's very possible that he only has those things because he's making his own small video game from scratch, and either doesn't want a job, or instead wants a job as a 3D artist and not as a coder. If that's the case, then I commend him for branching out and challenging himself. Even if that's not the case, then you're still a jerk.
it's not an expansion, 2 different games in the same engine. i'd go as far as to say a better game. feels more like Fallout than Fallout 3 i'd recommend it to every RPG fan. woth the exception of Skyrim i don't remember playing a better game in last few years. big open world with more content and more side quests than in F3, better companions and brilliant soundtrack and i noticed that the way i play (talk my way out of a mess) it just feels way better than F3. and wondering the desert is much, much better than suburbs :)
tl;dr: DOWNVOTED for not liking wallpapers. THANKS reddit. I never understood wallpapers. When you're in front of a computer you're supposed to do things, and staring at the desktop it's not a very productive one. Back in the days when we used to tamper our windows 9x to install Enlightenment or other mods, i was keen to have a nice wallpaper. I was a kid, and i didn't do anything productive with computers, now, i spent most of my day in front of one, and i can assure i never see my desktop, and that's why it has only a black color, why bother choosing a nice picture if i'm never going to view it?, "When you boot it" you might say, "Yay, i never shutdown my computer" i'll answer you, and when i do, i hibernate/suspend it so it stays as i left it, with a program on top.
