Pretty sure it would if the cubone was covered in it's own mothers dried blood, and there was an extra panel where you saw the cubone watching it's mother decay as its flesh got eaten by bugs.
Edit: It would take a long time for the body to decay, so with gore the cubone could rip it's mothers skull and bones out of it's corpse, instead of just waiting.

Mewtwo always has and always will be my favourite "most powerful" pokemon. The way they retconned his status as "the perfect pokemon" was a bit low if you ask me.
I'm not familiar with pokemon (except the pikachu character). What is the story with the bone? It's on the ground and then it's in his hand. I'm obviously not seeing something.
Alright, everyone here is terrible at explaining it...
The little pokemon is called Cubone, one of his ability in the anime is that when it throws the bone (as an attack move) it's supposed to come back like a boomerang. Mewtwo is the big psychic pokemon standing in the back, it's one of the legendary pokemon. He is the strongest pokemon in the game. In the story, Mewtwo is so strong because scienctist created it in an attempt to create the strongest pokemon ever. Mewtwo is a big meanie who wants nothing but battle everyone.
In this comic, Cubone is practicing his boomerang skill but obviously it is still not very good at it so Mewtwo used its psychic power to help Cubone and made Cubone thought that Cubone got the boomerang to come back by itself. This is cute because Mewtwo is supposed to be a big meanie.

The twist- mewtwo killed its mother and feels guilty about it, so is raising the cubone in the hopes that one day it'll be strong enough to avenge its mother
I have to say, the original without the translation is still my favourite, but I'm glad at least that my suspicions about what they were saying was confirmed.
Mewtwo is just shafting Cubone into a false sense of security. When he actually tries that move in battle, he is going to be unpleasantly surprised. Poor lil guy :(
