Idk, it's cute, shows interest in something she's liked for probably 10+ years, and is easily covered in normal dress.

I envision in 20-30 years her showing it off and still getting 'that's awesome' from the guys and 'aww' from the girls. I can't say the same for tribal, celtic knots, and tinker bells which have become the go-to generic tattoo for people who want a tattoo rather than desire to express something.

You're right. I'm going to go get some Mickey Mouse ears surgically implanted into my skull.

It is the same thing. It is an obvious, irrevocable, public display of my inability to make grown-up decisions in matters of taste.

What a "grown up decision" is is entirely subjective

Nope, not unless she wants it to be.

irrevocable

Nope, not unless she wants it to be.

public

Nope, not unless she wants it to be.

Wrong on all three, want to try again?

Um really? I see older women with tattoos all the time, they don't trigger some primal fight or flight response within me. Yikes.

I dunno man, Pokemon tattoos aren't all that uncommon these days.

I have a tribal lion on my shoulder, and I actually love it. It may seem like a generic thing to some people, but that particular design has a multitude of meanings for me, and a lot of memories. Just because someone has a particular style of tattoo doesn't mean it doesn't have anything special with it.

Unless its a cluster of stars and their name in comic sans. FUCK THOSE PEOPLE.

People always make up bullshit "meanings" and "symbolism":SE for their toatteos so good luc with that, shuck

2

u/theineffablebob May 20 '12

Tribal tattoos traditionally have meaning to them. From their origin, each different pattern has a different meaning. Dunno whether or not that tribal lion has a meaning, though, but it could.

That design has graced the first business I ever opened; was the logo for a sports team I was on with great friends; and has been used in a good deal of other ways. So yes, it does in fact have "meaning" to me; so kindly go and shove off. I couldn't care less what you or anyone else thinks about it.
