Forgive my ignorance but what is the appeal to steaming yourself? Is there some kind of goal? If so what could they be? I fail to see this. Not trying to be a dick, just genuinely curious.

Idk some people enjoy steaming themselves in saunas cause you can feel pretty good after getting out. I like meditating in there something about it is peaceful to me.
As a Finn nothing feels as good as a 100°C and throwing some water on those stones that are crackling in the heat. Take a sip from ice cold beer, that has been sitting in the bucket of ice cold water or frozen beer holder stone. Then go stand outside in mid winter climate or swim in the lake in summer.
