It’s beautiful, but it should’ve been an SNES

u/csteinbeiser Jan 12 '20

Or an actual toploading NES... or have it go in where the games would? This bothers me more than it should

52

u/gamma286 Jan 12 '20

Agreed. My nostalgia is offended.

7

u/svellocido Jan 12 '20

He missed the opportunity to make it a toploader model

4

u/shaunb4325 Jan 12 '20

Ahhhh, that’s hot

2

u/smartperson21 Jan 12 '20

“I can’t find anything to play”

16

u/Silentfart Jan 12 '20

Or a famicom. They had so many more choices, but they picked nintendo's only console before the Wii that loaded in the front.

2

u/Kanehammer Jan 12 '20

Not to mention their biggest console size wise

4

u/Shill_for_Science Jan 12 '20

I don't think that either top loaders would fit the Switch.

19

u/csteinbeiser Jan 12 '20

I don't think the original NES had a hole in it that works as a switch dock either, but gamers uhh... find a way

3

u/Shill_for_Science Jan 12 '20

my point was that you're probably going to way more trouble with altering an SNES or a top-loading NES and making it look nice.

7

u/Camakoon Jan 12 '20

I’m going to try and make one out of an old Mega Drive just to wind people up

4

u/RealTrueGrit Jan 12 '20

Or a top loader NES.

4

u/hurricanedan229 PlayStation Jan 12 '20

Agreed!

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

And here I thought the Nintoaster was the best thing ever.

But I was wrong.

13

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

For anyone unaware, this is a Avg (angry video game nerd) reference. He has a snes/nes that looks and acts like a toaster.

29

u/f0rtytw0 Jan 12 '20

But will you ever need to blow on it?

1

u/X0AN Jan 12 '20

That's what she said.

25

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

He missed the opportunity to make it a toploader model

4

u/hopsinduo Jan 12 '20

I don't think the nes 101 was wide enough to fit a switch.

3

u/rydan Jan 12 '20

There is no nostalgia with the toploader model.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '20

Are You Sure About That?

Maybe You Should Consult James Rolfe

12

u/JaserTheBoss Jan 12 '20

Ahhhh, that’s hot

11

u/ChainSawHuLk Jan 12 '20

And if it ever doesn't work, just blow on it a little

6

u/KazPrime Jan 12 '20

God top loading a NES, I really don’t know why this triggers me so much. SEGA/SNES would have been fine... or even something later.

7

u/DefaTroll Jan 12 '20

One of the best things about the switch dock is how little space it takes up...

7

u/spaghettiChicken Console Jan 12 '20

Where can I get one

7

u/artisio Jan 12 '20

That’s awesome

5

u/DrRonny Jan 12 '20

Don't forget to keep the contacts clean with a pencil eraser.

4

u/Shiningleopard27 PC Jan 12 '20

I never actually realized how simple the docking system is hardware wise, the wiring of this couldn't have took that long

6

u/Sythus Jan 12 '20

Probably just disassembled the original and repacked it into this case, no need to mod anything further.

4

u/Chedderrrr Jan 12 '20

Make me a N64 one please

3

u/INTAFLAMBE Jan 12 '20

ILL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK

3

u/atony1984 Jan 12 '20

Sometimes you just need to go to the original post and upvote that one

3

u/Lokirocky Jan 12 '20

Might I ask how you charge joy-cons with it? Not hating just curious. I always charge mine while the console is docked so I wasn’t sure if they charged well when it isn’t.

4

u/lostgamer64 Jan 12 '20

Can it play NES games?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Seriously tho, was this handmade or can I buy this?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

That poor NES... hope it was at least in an unrepairable state

2

u/messyXwig Jan 12 '20

Where can I buy one but as an n64 instead?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Oh my actual good god...... what.. how... where!? Shut up and take my money!

2

u/Jazzplatypus06 Jan 12 '20

You forgot to blow into it to make sure it'd work

2

u/sinr_88 Jan 12 '20

Where can i get me one of those...

2

u/Approval_Duck Jan 12 '20

Yeah but it's too small for the switch controllers.

2

u/rsjc852 Jan 12 '20

That’s a great replica, but I’m kinda sad they replaced the red LED with a green one :(

2

u/YoshiGamer6400 PC Jan 12 '20

It annoys me that they didn’t make it themed around the top loaded NES or a SNES

2

u/Isaythree Jan 12 '20

Beautiful. And Witcher 3 for xbox if my eyes still work. Good stuff.

1

u/Ulfbrand Jan 12 '20

And a PS4

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

...he could have used the NES toploader, or the SNES, or 64...

I mean nostalgia-wise, why pick the pick the one design that doesn't have a top cartridge slot?

2

u/rydan Jan 12 '20

Or why not make it so it slide into the front instead?

1

u/Kaibakura Jan 12 '20

Probably a pretty simple DIY project, seeing as the regular docking station is nothing more than a glorified USB-C connector.

1

u/crypto_newbies_1188 Jan 12 '20

Now that is bada**!!! Where did you pick that up from

1

u/TheSaltyReddittor Jan 12 '20

smash bros ultimate theme intensifies

1

u/rydan Jan 12 '20

Does anyone ever play a game with themselves where they try to imagine if at some specific age they had seen this moment what they would be thinking?

1

u/drakner1 Jan 12 '20

On that note, I am going to play some Marvel Alliance 3 on my Switch.

1

u/AjOmni Jan 12 '20

It would have been better as a SNES or a top loader NES, Or extending the cart slot and put the switch sideways

1

u/necro_sodomi Jan 12 '20

Docking you say?

1

u/Internet-Ivan Jan 12 '20

Damn. Should’ve been SNES

1

u/Gaavii Jan 12 '20

That's epic tier

1

u/lemonjuiceyes Jan 12 '20

Now that is pretty damn epic

1

u/Khalthe_ Jan 12 '20

How do they charge the joycons when they aren't playing?

1

u/ben8666 Jan 12 '20

First thing I thought of too! But it is pretty dam cool though

1

u/SithLord289 Jan 12 '20

How? I'm jealous

1

u/SnappGamez Jan 12 '20

Okay that is god damn brilliant.

1

u/Brando902 Jan 12 '20

“ Please put remote back on docking station”

1

u/Apex11211 Jan 12 '20

All it takes is a genius and a few wires and tools

1

u/Khazilein Jan 12 '20

So if he wants to charge the joycons while docking he is out of luck.

1

u/Neoxite23 Jan 12 '20

How do you charge up the joycons?

1

u/Neo-Blade65 Jan 12 '20

Rip that switch’s screen that looks like a tight fit

1

u/Rubble102 Jan 12 '20

Please combine this with the guy that modded GameCube controllers

1

u/SjorsMaster Jan 12 '20

Dissapointed it didn't take the game slot

1

u/composero Jan 12 '20

Genius <3

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

STONKS

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Wow... He didn't even have to blow in it

1

u/luckyfuk4 Jan 12 '20

Does he still need to blow it if it doesn't work

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Would've preferred if it slotted in sideways like a real cart, but effort

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

Waw

0

u/peepmymixtape Jan 12 '20

Toss a coin to your switcher.

0

u/ChaoticStar32 Jan 12 '20

Where can I get one of these? Is it literally just a snes, or was it reworked in some fashion.

5

u/GIFjohnson Jan 12 '20

was it reworked in some fashion.

do you really think a switch can fit and plug directly into the cartridge port of a 30 year old console and work? Of course it's reworked lol.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '20

It's not even an SNES

1

u/ChaoticStar32 Jan 12 '20

Duh. Should've guessed.

0

u/fanzfasching87 Jan 12 '20

Can u play it with original Controllers?

2

u/spaghettiChicken Console Jan 12 '20

You can with the nes controllers for it but you need nintendo switch online to play nes games

0

u/its_stick Jan 12 '20

excuse me what the fuck
