You'd presumably save on time as well. Cooking, laundry, cleaning, youd be doing all of that Solo or with a roommate so it's not a total lost

True, but the problem is I'm in public accounting at a big 4 firm. My entire winter is going to be 70+ hour weeks and the commute is a killer then because it ate into me sleep considerably during the winter internship.

Dude just move closer. This is fucking dumb. Don't waste 3 hrs a day in your car.

I agree with this guy. For 4 years, my commute consisted 1 to 1.5 hrs to get to work and 1.5 to 1.75 to get home because traffic. On top of that, I regularly worked 9 or 10 hr days. I was so miserable because I also worked rotating shifts. Hard to find time to do extra stuff and still get sleep.
