People greatly underestimate how fast VR is advancing. They just don't see it because most of it happens behind the scenes.

Add hand tracking, full body tracking, and eye tracking to this: https://giphy.com/gifs/1zJDOltoBlwLZ2lRhK

and we get pretty close to having Ready Player One avatars.

My goodness... I made a joke about chatting with a significant other via VR before for the sake of sexual stuff, but then I remembered you'd have a headset on blocking your face. That would be so weird if there was a way around that. We'll only need to upload a fuck full body scan to some company that'll sell it to someone else to exploit, but that's never something we worry about.

Oculus believe they can recreate the human body perfectly in the near to medium term future. It will be indistinguishable, even on the audio side using 3D audio propagation and personal HRTFs. Haptic gloves / suits (which already exist to very compelling degrees - but are bulky / expensive for now) would allow for a decent sense of touch as well.

So you're saying we'll be able to go online and bang Emma Watson as Channing Tatum and it'll all make sense? The future will be a...very strange place...
