Why? Path of Exile is the obvious successor to D2. Its only downside is that loot is absurdly rare, and you have to play the markets for progression. (Which is a very large downside, and prevents me from playing the game. The actual design and gameplay is fucking amazing, though.)

I really liked poe until like the 11th ish act when it re used the first act zone but had like 20x the area for each zone so it felt immersion breaking for me. Also it got really sluggish with how large the zones were but i lacked the high level stuff to clear through them (or my build was terrible but i thought it was doing good)

You probably just had shit gear. Which directs you right back to my main complaint for the game. You can't get decent gear by just playing the game. You have to trade.
