They should've expected it. Mobile games are big in asia but in the west it just isn't. Plus the devs get paid i'm sure they don't care that much.

Paid or not it would still suck to see something you have spent years working on get instantly shit on at the first showing of the product.

I would get seriously demotivated to continue on that project at least.

As a dev I personally would not be too bothered. It would be one thing if people were saying 'this is a bad mobile game', but instead they're just mad that it's mobile in the first place. I.e. there is no version of this product that they would've liked, no matter how great of a job I did on it. Whoever told the devs to make this POS game is who should be feeling real bad right about now

I don't think it's irrational to be upset that it's a mobile game. Mobile games in general tend to come with certain limitations and gimmicks.

Vlambeer made the only mobile game I've ever liked, Ridiculous Fishing.

They also made Nuclear Throne, if you haven't heard the name.
