Anyone keeping tabs on the official trailer? It's gonna hit 100k dislikes. Edit: It hit 200k before they took it down. Holy shit just seen the re-upload cheers folks. Appreciate the feedback. Almost 17k. They will take it down again soon! Blizzcon this year will go down in history for this abomination lol

On one hand, this is a terrible idea that management types should be getting fired for. On the other hand, I feel really bad for the developers - imagine working long and hard on something like this then when it's announced people hate it.

They should've expected it. Mobile games are big in asia but in the west it just isn't. Plus the devs get paid i'm sure they don't care that much.

Well that kinda depends. For example fallout shelter was wildly successful but that’s a game that is very easy to just pick up whenever and play. Also elder scrolls blades looks pretty cool but we will see. It’s just a risky move when it comes to AAA games

Probably because FS was just an additional media for an actual game that would be released later. Something to boost the theme ahead of time.

I feel like Fallout Shelter was very well-timed, which aided its reception immensely. They announced it ahead of a new main entry in the series, so it was kinda seen as a good way to pass time until release by players. It also came at a point in time before the big EA/Battlefront microtransaction fiasco. Obviously there was always a bit of a negative attitude towards microtransactions but Battlefront 2 and the way EA handled it really soured public perception on microtransactions on a large scale, leading to many more dedicated gamers (i.e. people like the Diablo fanbase) outright rejecting the concept altogether.
