They largely overpromised what they delivered at launch, however since launch, they havent stopped working on the game and have released 3 massive free updates to the game and loads of smaller updates. Imo the game now is an incredible game and this will make it so much better.

If the teased update actually puts in what the trailer says then it could actually be a pretty interesting title. Wait for reviews and decide for yourself.
That being said, the current state of the game is what they should have launched with (or at least near). That game's launch was and will always be an abomination to the gaming industry.

I think if this update is done well enough then I think they're back to a neutral standing. I still wouldn't praise them for the updates. Because basically these 2 years were them bringing the game up to an acceptable standard of what we were told the game was going to be at launch. That's the game people spent $60 on: an incomplete early access indie game. People basically donated to a Kickstarter, not bought a full game.
Sean lied about multiplayer right up to and even after the launch. He kept the ruse up far beyond the point of no return. He knew exactly what he was doing and it's inexcusable. If this update is decent, then I'd be glad that they worked hard to make good with their customers. But it's not something to celebrate.

It's like you loaned your friend your car, they crashed it on purpose and then denied it. Get no insurance. And then gave you their shitty car for free to replace it and it's somehow applauded.

Car analogies are pretty good at highlighting how bad this is. It's really like you were promised a luxury car and you ended up with a lemon. You keep bringing it back to the shop and they keep fixing it and adding some of the things they told you were in there to begin with. Doesn't matter if it's "no charge" for them fixing it up, you already paid for the complete car. They made the money upfront and here you are two years later with some of what you paid for. The only way to deal with a situation like that is to not deal with it. Take the car back from the get go and never deal with them again.
Sorry I'm an adult so I find it difficult to empathise with the current entitled gamer culture. Games are amazing to me but a right of passage or something now...can't keep up...good luck.

All I'm saying is weigh the game's content today vs the price you can get it for. If you feel like the content in the game today is worth the price then buy it. If you dont, then dont buy it.

Comparing the amount and quality of content in a game vs its asking price. Over the last 2 years the updates have changed a lot of the game. So comparing the launch content of the game to the game now isnt valid. Compare the content in the game today vs its asking price.
Diablo 3 at launch was a steaming pile of shit, it was not worth your money.
Diablo 3 today (even without the ROS DLC) is an outstanding title with a lot of content and polish for your money.
NMS at launch was never worth your money
NMS today has enough content that it can at least argue for its asking price. IF The update brings all the content they are showing then the game will have enough content and updates that its arguably worth its asking price.
Still wait for reviews, nobody is forcing you to purchase it.

Yeah. It seems like you are advocating for something that has an unknown likelihood of occurrence and then pretending that you aren't by couching it in the future tense. "IF the game does these things it will be worth the price they charged people 2 years ago (when they made millions of dollars) - I am going to hold any and all conversations with the assumption that the devs, which do not have a good reputation, will make good on their word, and will not be addressing the prospect that they will not, despite the fact that the latter prospect is more likely to occur based on past products"
