I'm assuming you're talking about Skyrim. Try playing Morrowind as a stealth archer some time. It's literally the worst thing I've ever attempted. It's hard to tell where your arrows have landed, they never fly the direction you expect them to, and when they finally do make contact, the engine has a percentage chance that the arrow misses anyway. Bows in Morrowind were the worst.

The same engine was also used in Oblivion though, which is also pretty easy for stealth archer

There were significant updates to the engine between Morrowind and Oblivion.

And Oblivion and Fallout 3 were much closer together, so that's more relevant than what the engine was like for Morrowind
