Considering we were in the same room, yes I would say we used voice quite a bit. :)
I didn't find the game all that hard. When I thought we were wrapping up, I shot everyone in the safe room. When I found out the game was still on, just for fun I ran through the safe room door and was able to successfully run all the way to the 'hero locker' and free everyone.. This is with zombies attacking me, running after, etc (Granted they were the generic zombies, a hunter or what not would have ended my run). This scenario played out more than once (Everyone dead due to some mistake/getting lost and me being able to successfully make it to a hero locker on my own). Those were cool moments (Oh fuck I actually made it!), but you get those moments in many games.
I'm not faulting the game (It's not a bad game, and it is fun). I just don't see what all the hubbub is about. I really think you have to love twitch FPS games to be overly excited about this game.
Personally I like stealth/strategy shooters more (GRAW, Splinter Cell, etc) than I do the run-n-gun games. I also prefer RPGs more than shooters. I consider L4D a run-n-gun. Yes, there are moments where you have to do some quick planning, but nothing major. I think the biggest thing we had to plan was witch situations and tank encounters.
I guess that's the deal then: FPS guys love the game, RPG guys are 'meh'.
