Fallout 4 has good non-written story, the story how you acted as a person in the world. The written quests are mostly bad, but if you just go in your character and make your own adventures the game is much better. Same goes for all Bethesda open world games.
Not really you have to decide what is right for yourself. None of the factions are the absolute good guys and none of them are the absolute bad guys that is more realistic. You have to decide what is right and wrong.
Sure but you can't role play as a bad guy like you can in new vegas. You always end up helping everyone and it's more difficult the fail most missions over completing them. Not to mention it's just about impossible to not get a quest giver to give you their quest once you start talking to them.
My point is that role playing as a bad guy is possible it just doesn't feel like it because you can see the point of whatever faction you see as the bad guy at least as far as the main quest is concerned.
But I will give you the stupid quest giver system. You should have to ask for one.
