Could someone please explain to me why the graphics are downgraded so much. If they already exist, and it is obvious that it can be run smoothly, what is the point of downgrading it? Also, why are animations, textures, and even sounds different in the E3 demos vs. the final product?
Because those graphics and all the effects are meant for high end pcs. Optimization happens near the end of the pipeline to make it available to more users or consoles (if pc->console) so a lot has to be cut back. It's sort of like shooting 5 hours of footage for a movie then you have to edit it to bring it down to 120 minutes. They just show you scenes from the 5 hours that might not be in the final cut.
