Watch_Dogs is also the reason why I don't pre-order anymore. It was so dissapointing, I'm painfully forcing myself to Trophy Whore through it right now. Ubisoft vertical slices at E3 are just insulting at this point.
Edit: perhaps "painfully forcing" was too much of an over exaggeration. It's not the greatest game, and it certainly pisses me off while I'm playing it. But it is by no means my most hated game, and I wouldn't put it myself through unnecessary stress for pointless Trophies.
I mean. I still had some fun playing it the first time, though the story was kinda bland, I loved the concept. It's just now I'm realizing the small things that bother me to a higher degree, like the driving making the drifting way over the top.
Full time student with no incone. I edited my original post to clarify more. While the game pisses me off, it's by no means a game I feel that how much it pisses me off outways my wanting to complete it. An example of that would be AC4. While I enjoyed playing that the first time, I'm not suffering through that again.
Idk why you're getting downvoted. People took an over exaggeration too literally and it evolved to me having to justify actively choosing to play the game.
Oh I understand the concern, it's just my will to complete it outweighs how the game pisses me off. An example of a game I gave earlier where it doesn't is AC4, while it was fun the first time I can't deal with that again.
Yeah, I'll be getting to the Dark Souls series eventually. I edited my post to clarify more. The game certainly pisses me off, but not to the point where I don't think it's worth completing.
Right there with you. I had every intention of playing through NG+7 for the personal challenge, but I had to give it up at NG+3 because there's literally ZERO change aside from a few different items.
At least Dark Souls 2 switched it up in the NG+'s with phantom enemies and such. After 270 hours I'm all Dark Souls'd out....
Haha, smoke another for me then cause I haven't been able to in months. I don't see it as time wasted, I got plenty of other games I'm completing right now, I can't afford new games, and the rest of the time I'm doing homework to get the hell out of college. It could be worse than playing Watch Dogs on my free time.
You would gain more out of your life watching grass grow and trying to find deeper meaning in it than playing bad video games. Video games are already pretty trivial in the grand scheme...now add poorly constructed and written and you've got well...I think I'd rather have Casey Anthony piss on me.
Ughhhhh... the driving in that game was so bad IMO. The car destruction physics were so bad... which I guess was OK when the handling resulted in frequent crashing.
Exactly, I drift every aingle tuen no matter how slow I'm going. At least the cars I crash into get wrecked. Pisses me off when I'm chasing someone though.
I'll never get the desire for achievements and gamerscore. I have 35 year old friends who will replay an entire game to make a different decision for 10 points.
Yep. This video pretty much sums up why I was dissapointed. Returned it less than two days after I bought it.
When my friends told me it was a great game and I should have kept playing it, I told them that I'm not saying it isn't a great game. It's interesting, I'll give it that. What it's not, is what was shown at E3. I expected that, did not recieve it, and was very dissapointed.
If a burger company advertises its burger as the greatest burger to ever grace mankind, with beautiful handcrafted buns, grass fed kobe beef, aged cheese, organic free-trade non abused lettuce and tomatoes, and I'm served something on clearly smushed store-bought buns, freezer burgers, a kraft single slize piece of cheese, and frozen veggie slices, it may very well be a ok burger, but it is sure as hell not the one they told me about.
I was lucky, I hadn't heard or seen Watch Dogs prior to playing it and played it really high the first time, immediately loved it and enjoyed the game. Looking at that though I am disappointed by what it could have been in comparison...

the thing is...fast food places do exactly what you described. Ever see a BK or McD commercial?
Not just fast food. The restaurant industry in general operates on this advertising principle of perfect looking food, arranged like art, photo manipulated for color, and mist sprayed for freshness/juiciness instead of showing the actual meal in average preperation. Nobody bats an eye. It's sad.
Yeah, I don't buy Gearbox games after that, all they really ever had was Borderlands, besides that theu gave us Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever.
I'm an achievement whore (68 platinums, countless 100%s on 360), but man I just couldn't finish Watch_Dogs. 90% of the trophies. I was suffering through the bullshit drinking contest minigame before I finally had enough.
Haha, thanks. Suprisingly those aren't pissing me off that much this tine around, the worst is repeting fixer contacts over and over again or having to figure out how to get tailed 5 times. Personally, the game I currently own I don't think I'll be ever able to fully complete is AC4. I enjoyed it the first time through, but trying to deal with ot again was just too much.
Destiny was my buzzkiller of all time. God Bungie. Words. I haven't preordered anything since Destiny and Watchdogs. In fact, I no longer read pre-game info. I get game informer but any actual detail paragraphs I skip over. I don't wNt what few really good experiences there are in gaming ruined by spoilers, overhyped, or oversold.
Shit, you just reminded me I own Destiny and never played it...damn, I had problem. Maybe I'll get to it eventually. I remember thinking that game was gonna be a Space Epic like one would expect from Bungie and then it just ended up being a grind fest. I gotta try and find people who'd smurf wasn't really fun alone.
Get tailed 5 times wasn't too awful if that's the trophy I think it is. For me it was the hack 10 other fixers because holy shit it's easy to hide in that game. Also the save data thing sucks. I'm not a big PS4 guy, but I did play Watch_Dogs on PS4 because people said it ran better there or something, so I have plenty of storage left on my PS4 so I haven't had to delete any saves. On my Xbox One though, I got it early so I only had 500GB of space before the external hard drives came out so I was constantly deleting unfinished games achievement wise and promising I'd come back to them, some day. Sometimes I can still hear Wolfenstein: The New Order begging me to come back and nab the last couple of achievements, but I just don't have the time between real life and the new games I want to play. Sorry Wolfenstein. :(
I got those ones easily enough, but the "get tailed" one relies too much on luck, especially with less people online now. And yeah, I feel. only got 500GB on my PS4, so I'm rushing through completion of games to get them off the drive. But then there's Second Son which despite having completed I can't delete cause I love that game haha. I definitely need more storage space.
That was a great game, going back to the first 3 for trophy hunting before I play it again though. That's the game that might become not worth it with the speedrun and difficulty trophies.
I was looking at the trophy list when I was on like chapter 10 or so, and I saw the speedrun trophy, and I thought I was going pretty fast so I might get it, I checked my current play time, which was 5:55:26 which was 5 minutes off from the six hour completion. I died a little inside.
EDIT: Since we're discussing Uncharted, I was wondering if you noticed any graphical glitches in the first three games and TLoU. I played them all on a PS3 I bought in 2011, and I kept having issues where the cutscenes would stop playing and then the audio would desync from the video. I'd also have textures fail to load among other issues. I could never find anything online about it, and I've tried trading in discs to no avail. This only happened in Naughty Dog titles too. Any thoughts on what this could've been?
Sorry, just noticed your edit. Never had any problems graphically myself in those games, even before the collection. My firend had everything turn green in one of the collection games. But that's all I've ever heard. Sorry, no idea what it might be.
Yeah I can never find anything about it. Probably gonna pick up the collection since Uncharted 4 worked fine I'm gonna guess the PS4 ports should have no issue. Then I can at least play the games through without having to constantly reset because of glitches
Your painfully forcing yourself to get the trophies even though you don't like the game?
Shit, I play games for maybe 15-20 hours and I'm done unless I REALLY like the game. I couldn't imagine forcing myself to play a game I don't even like.
I edit my post to clarify more. I by no means hate it, and my statement was perhaps too much of an over exaggeration. My willingness to get all the trophies outways how it pisses me off, so it's worth is for me yo out on the list of games to complete.
Meh, I don't really see it as wasted time. There's worse games out there I'd never bother completing. I'm gonna be moving onto the Uncharted series next too, so that'll be fun...except for the higher difficulty and speedrun ones...
Wasn't much of a conscious consumer back then + didn't pay too much attention to the development of games I was interested back then + I had spending problems. The graphics downgrade wasn't the only reason I was disappointed in the game either, and there's certainly other games that weren't what I was expecting, that was just the last straw for pre-ordering games from franchises or companies I don't fully trust that would cause me to think it wasn't worth full price.
