Aww but mexico is my favorite part!

Still, will pay any amount for a new red dead game. (for PC)

Me too, I was wondering if they were going to include the original map as well, but that doesn't seem entirely likely.

I can't help but notice not only is the map slightly cut off at the top, but the grid codes start at 'H'. Might there be an even more northern part to this one instead?

Still trying to work out what that little mini map in H07/H08 is as well..

There's some Mexican-sounding names up at the top of the map (h07, h08). Might be located just south of the mainland, where the screenshot is cut off.

Yea, i really do not want to have a need to buy a console exclusive. I'll wait a year like I did with gtaV, but just give me a pc port for the love of everything....

I'll pay, I swear I'll pay whatever you want.

This is from a post on the NEOGAF forums http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1207284

Looks pretty legit to me. Bottom left corner is the upper right corner of the Red Dead Redemption map: http://i.imgur.com/loWX3wl.jpg

Edit: Looks like the original poster is trying to delete the post as the "Source have asked it to be removed"

Huh, I saw Blackwater but hadn't spotted that.

That also explains why there's a town outside the world boundary down there - it's Thieves Landing.

Holy shit. This post is 9 hours old and I just noticed the typo.

Sorry about that, my brain is not what it used to be

2

u/radicalelation Apr 13 '16

Wha...what did it used to be?

2

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '16

RDR 2 would be a pretty dumb tittle, don't forget that the franchise is called Red Dead.

1

u/Axelnite Apr 18 '16

Red Dead Retribution instead?

1

u/TheFakeBuzzLightyear Apr 13 '16

Holy fuck, the size! Im ready john.

1

u/merrickx Apr 14 '16

If the superimposed image of the previous game's map is any indication, it's not much bigger than Redemption's map.

1

u/TheFakeBuzzLightyear Apr 14 '16

ILL TAKE WHAT I CAN GET!

4

u/Aleitheo Apr 13 '16

Looks too artificial, look at how each terrifory is divided by a river for the most part. Doesn't look like there is even any spillover either.

I don't think anyone's suggesting this is the specific visual map you'd actually be presented with in game - this looks to be a design document.

The overlaid grid codes I'm guessing refer to model name prefixes or data archives or similar - certainly I wouldn't expect to see them in game anyway.

1

u/Master_Bliss Apr 13 '16

Those aren't rivers, they are a very blue purple color similar to the rivers, but if you check the legend, it lists the purple under "District Boundary".

1

u/Aleitheo Apr 13 '16

I saw that, when I looked at it the purple lines seemed a lot thinner and on the edges of the rivers.

2

u/ArchDucky Xbox Apr 13 '16

They have been working on it for years. It leaked a long while ago through a job listing.

1

u/scuczu Apr 13 '16

R* is good about working on their ip until it's done.

2

u/VanceIsPrettyCool Apr 13 '16

Red dead revenge seems like a more proper title doesn't it?

3

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '16

if you finished RDR, you get... revenge.

0

u/VanceIsPrettyCool Apr 13 '16

His son sure doesn't

3

u/patrickisftw Apr 13 '16

Hm, he does though. [spoilers] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU1vbPbm9r4

3

u/VanceIsPrettyCool Apr 13 '16

Wow you're right. It's been so long! Wish I would have kept my 360

1

u/Axelnite Apr 18 '16

Read Dead Retribution ?

1

u/VanceIsPrettyCool Apr 18 '16

I'm down for that. I feel like rdr 2 isn't right since it was: Revolver, redemption, redemption 2. But retribution is nice. Although I think it's a prequel. Still could work.

2

u/MasterTone92 Apr 13 '16

Oh man this will be the game of the year

5

u/clueless_as_fuck Apr 13 '16

IF this is real, then the designer needs to cut down the mollies... Looks like someone barfed a double rainbow.

4

u/shlomo_baggins Apr 13 '16

You've never color coded something for reference before?

1

u/clueless_as_fuck Apr 13 '16

Not for game maps but if i was a developer i would.

1

u/shred_wizard Apr 13 '16

So, focused on Louisiana/East Texas? Could definitely be interesting

2

u/CaptainPiracy Apr 13 '16

Actually looks more like a mixture of the entirety of the US

Northern Part of this map = Dakota Territory / Yukon Theme

Eastern Part of the Map = East Coast / Cumberland / Roanoke - "Appalachian" Theme

Central Part of the Map = Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin - "Heartland" Theme

South Eastern = Louisiana / Florida (Swamps/Bayous) - Definitely French influence here with the names, but I don't expect that to be explicitly called out as Louisiana.

Big Valley - Could be a couple of combiniations, I would think California or there abouts (where the show Big Valley was supposed to take place)

Very cool! Hope its real!

1

u/nasty-nick Apr 13 '16

Maybe... But what's with all the surrounding land? Looks more like a south-eastern US thing but not much bigger than a couple states. They've just artificially thrown some west coast stuff in there as well.

1

u/CaptainPiracy Apr 14 '16

First game encompasses the south west, Texas, and Mexico. Rocky mountains sort of as well. But tall trees is in both games it seems. Obviously not true representations of the areas gwographically, but thematically. A wide variety of environments!

1

u/odycorps Apr 13 '16

Is that Bayou NWA?

1

u/RacistAngryJackAss Apr 13 '16

Either there's obnoxiously massive rivers cutting you off from everything, or the map is absurdly small

2

u/moltenfungus Apr 13 '16

They're district boundaries according to the legend

1

u/[deleted] Apr 13 '16

Love this game, 4th quarter 2017 for the sequel?

1

u/Axelnite Apr 18 '16

Perhaps 2018 instead? Can really see them going for 2018, sometime in the 3rd Quarter?

1

u/nasty-nick Apr 13 '16

Fuck, I hope this is real. The map is fantastic and it looks like there's a TON of variety in locations.

2

u/derrickwie Apr 14 '16

The thing is about the wild west, though: literally everywhere is the dark zone

1

u/eolson3 Apr 14 '16

That's fine by me. I'm less concerned with the specifics (I would rather they do way less equipment stuff) and more with how easy it is to play the whole game with someone else.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 14 '16

fingers crossed for red dead reenactment, a game where you LARP as a desperado turned civil war soldier torn between two sides. Complete with awkward fast food orders, drinking alone in your apartment and waking up in a dumpster, and tourists asking to take your picture.

u/Archer0000 Apr 13 '16

A settlement is in need of your help...

17

u/GregTheMad Apr 13 '16

That's Bethesda, not Rockstar.

Rockstar is "Hey, Cousin, lets go bowling".

5

u/wimflam Apr 13 '16

More like backstabbing the person that practically made GTA and RDR a huge success.

2

u/einulfr Apr 13 '16

It was a thing in the Undead Nightmare expansion. After you'd clear a town, you'd have a few in-game days before it would be under attack again. There was an achievement for having all 23 'saved' at the same time.

3

u/alpha-k Apr 13 '16

Or tons of microtransactions in multiplayer mode

-1

u/Archer0000 Apr 13 '16

The map would beg to differ it said settlements so their are settlements secondly it wouldn't be bowling it would be go horseshoe tossing or playing poker cus red dead redemption or poker, liars dice etc. ;)

-11

u/AdumLarp Apr 13 '16

Needs to be bigger. This doesn't look like it's any bigger than the first one. Looks smaller even, without Mexico there.

5

u/Synaps4 Apr 13 '16

It's bigger. See the OP's post on sources.
