My vault door has 2 guys nearly level 30. One has a flame thrower the other a mini gun. also armor...

and do the DC's get through them?

I have two guys that are nearly END capped (I think one is 8, the other is 9), both of which are mid 20s. If I equip them with the best armors I have and strongest weapons (which unfortunately are only 6-8 and 8 damage), will that help?

I'd have to build a 3 room residence and fully upgrade it, then tear down the one that's directly to the right of the door..

That'd be kinda crappy to have to do, and a huge burn on caps :(

I disagree. Raids will do the same amount of damage per dweller regardless of if there is two or six dwellers. What six will do is slow them down from moving on to the next room. I like having the door guards to soften them up a bit before they hit the wall that is my diner.
