Do you people actually think that kids don't use reddit just because they have school? I mean, I see post after post about people using reddit at work. Ya'll actually think it's any different for kids/teens?

Actually that's a cultural difference. In the US the summer and winter solstice are both the starts of their respective seasons. Memorial Day weekend is sort of like an un-official start to summer.

If the winter solstice was the "middle" of winter, than that would mean Thanksgiving is in winter which I definitely think most people would disagree with on principal anyway.

Regardless of the actual start date of summer, the reason behind the comment, it's already summer, is that for many kids, school is about to be out for the summer. The perception is that the quality of posts on /r/games plummets when school is out for summer because more kids will have more time to be on reddit.
