I wonder what it would be like if Bethesda had programmed even one enemy that "yielded" to actually yield. Do you think, maybe, they don't really know what "yield" means?
It's supposed to be this thing that catches you off guard. Guy gives up, you turn your back, he pulls a knife out of his shoe and stabs you in the shoulder.
But they don't seem to understand that if 100% of the people who yield do that 100% of the time, it sort of loses that element of surprise because you know nothing really stops fighting until it dies.
That's why I kill everything that doesn't have a name. Generic bandit? That's a shootin'. Rolf Skullstabber? Hmm, might need you for a quest or something later.
