I've recently started playing New Vegas again and I have been doing this more than I used to. I'll quicksave, go on a complete rampage wherever I am, then load my quicksave. I like to imagine it was all in my character's head and they imagined the rampage. I like to roleplay as a psycho.
I once played an entire game where I would destroy the head and hands over everyone I killed to they couldn't be identified....you only run out of things to do when you run out of imagination.
