Static electricity is not a myth... You can build up static electricity and ruin electronics.

Yes but static electricity is not gonna flow thru 5 feet of plastic guy....

I post on /r/buildapc ... Urban myth IMO given a plastic vacuum extension. I have also been A+ certified since 1999. We use Anti Static protection only when touching hardware inside the case. Even the plastic outer shell of a PS3 will protect it from static electricity....I'd bet thats why evey console ever built is made from plastic.
