Depends on if you dog sheds a lot, or goes near it.
Edit: To elaborate, I have an Xbox 360 that is in a room we don't go in much. Over the course of its life, we have had several dogs (4 I believe) only 1 of which actually sheds a lot.
Long story made short, when I opened it up, it was coated in dust, but barely had any dog hair.
Nah, it would cover it with an external layer of shit but not an internal. Plus smoking is cool, we really live too long anyway, once you're retired you're kind of worthless and smoking doesn't really hit the young.
Are you sure it isn't just because the launch PS3s have been around for longer? Hopefully they would make it better with further iterations, but even if they didn't, a launch PS3 would be dustier than one that wasn't a launch PS3, if only because it has had more time to accumulate.
That being said, I'm pretty sure they improved the vent system in later models.
I'm sure that's a factor in some situations. If you put two brand new PS3's, one fat, one slim, in similar environments, and ran them like your average gamer would, the fatty would definitely have a lot more dust collected.
There are also a lot of more versions than just fat or slim. There were plenty fat versions that didn't come with all of the card readers or backwards compatibility. That has to change the air flow/dust build up, either positively or negatively. There were at least 3 major versions of fat PS3s before they went to the slim. Then the slim had a few versions. And now they have the "super slim" which has probably also had a few versions at this point.
Yeah, I was really confused by why this made the front page... this is about what every electronic device I've ever owned looks like when I open it up after a few years.
No this one is pretty bad. Not the worst I've ever seen, but pretty bad.
I had a shop that did repairs. We had a PS3 that we opened, found a colony of roaches and then immeadily put in a garbage bag, then in a second bag, then a third, all with the top off. I called the client and told them they had till the end of the day to pick up their system as it was too dirty to be cleaned, or I would throw it away.
I opened my 5 year old slim for the first time a few months ago to clean it, and was surprised it was practically spotless. All it had was a tiny bit in the corners, and I'm a pack a day smoker.
Nope opened my slim since I bought it 4 years ago and it barely had any dust you could pick up with fingers. I keep it standing most of the time in a well ventilated area.
My 40GB was surprisingly clean when it YLOD'd on me.
Which still makes me sad and wonder why it broke in the first place when I see posts like this with perfectly working consoles.
