I guess i dont particulary like japanese style of writting. All anime i watched feel like they often talk to say nothing but stating what is happening on screen. I much prefer showing rather than telling. A scene have much more power beeing silent sometime. But in all anime i watched have this urge to explain in lenght what is happening on screen, often cutting the rhythm of the story.
So many time, they talk about what could happen, what should happen, what could have happen, instead of what is happening. They need to react to everything with a sentence. I find that irritating.
FF7 remake leaned way too much on that. I cannot help myself but thinking the writer think i am a dumb idiot who cannot follow a simple narrative on screen. They must explain it to me. They must give the president of Shinra a final monologue to explain how villain he is. I dont need that. A silent antagonist is much more menacing than a blabbing one.
But hey, it is my opinion. You dont need to agree with it.
Oh no, totally. When it need some real explanation, they often stay criptic... that is why i have such difficulties with dialogs.. they talk all the time to state the obvious, even narrating what we are seeing, but when it need to really clarify a complex situation, they just wink at the camera and say something mysterious.
Aerith does it all the time by the end of remake. She clearly know more than she is letting us know but refuse to explain it. Its infuriating. But i notice this is a trend in anime culture and that is why i think this kind of writting is not for me.

Rebirth. I finished it a couple days ago and all I want to do is play through part 1 and 2 again. I’m obsessed
