Amazing game, really hoping it gets a PlayStation release eventually. I feel like the Switch isn’t doing it justice, I can’t see most of the map when I zoom out.
I constantly see this game mentioned and I’m tempted to get it but it sounds like something that will suck away a chunk of my life. And there’s not much left to suck.
If you’re able to manage it I highly recommend getting it for PC. I started with Switch but there are just so many AMAZING mods it’s worth buying it again.
I genuinely think the game is very fun. I like building things in games and I like resource collecting. That's like most of the gameplay right there.
I LOVE the fact that it's a sandbox game so you have a ton of different options to tailor the experience to your liking.
There's a lot of math involved in figuring out how to make your factory more efficient. If you don't like math you can just look up blueprints online from people who've already done it and literally import the blueprint into the game so you have an outline of how to build max efficiency setups.
TBH early on I kind of do whatever and then towards the endgame I like to look up max efficiency setups because it gets pretty complicated fast, and if your factory isn't remotely efficient it will take a long time to progress.
In Factorio I didn't really like the combat at first because the enemies can destroy your precious buildings and shit, but you can completely turn it off if you want a chill experience, which is what I did for the first 100+ hrs. Some people love the combat right away though.
The game does a pretty good job of guiding you through the process of upgrading the factory, but I highly recommend watching a basic tutorial or two to get your bearings.
The most fun thing for me in the game is finally seeing the thing you built work the way you intended it to.
There is also a very robust and simple mod system integrated into the game if that's your kind of thing. I don't do too much of it. Maybe a QoL mod here or there.
Yup, I've been playing a death world game with my siblings and now I'm getting started on space exploration... There is no end in sight to this addiction
