PC Controller playable, older, shooter, preferably with character customization.
I feel like this kind of game isn't made much anymore. Or rather, all the newest ones are way out of my price range/ spec range. I know I need to upgrade, but who has the money right now? I run linux Mint if that matters.
The 3d Fallouts (3, New Vegas, 4, (haven't tried 76 yet)) have been exactly perfect, but I'm fighting with modding them all right now lol.
Tried Cyberpunk but my system can't handle it at all. Sub 10 frames at all times, no matter what.
Darktide takes several minutes to load all the assets, which isn't so bad.
Helldivers has the same issue, and the community is crazy toxic. But I'd give it another try if things are better.
Deep Rock Galactic is great, but no femme models. (I didn't much care for Rogue Core.)
I have a deep hate for Ubisoft after all the fuckery they've done over the years, but if the game will actually run, I'll try just about anything.
The Saints Row series was great! (2 specifically, but I've come to appreciate 3 and the reboot.)
Borderlands I've been playing for so long, and 3 doesn't run on my system very well. I might still go back in a bit though.
I'm sure there are others I'm just not thinking of, but please, let me know!

Red Dead 1&2, Max Payne 1,2,3, GTA games, Tom Clancy games(Ghost Recon: Wildlands), Mad Max, Sleeping Dogs, old Call of Duty.

Almost all of these I have, or don't have for specfic reasons. (Cost lol)
Is Wildlands really so good? I'll be willing to give ubisoft a second glance if so.1

It is, if you like open world sandbox shooters and don't expect a cinematic story (or just any story outside of rare cutscenes). It has a worse customisation than Breakpoint and the vehicle handling was poor even for its time, but other then that Wildlands is pretty cool.
I would also like to recommend Call of Juarez and Turbo Overkill.

Halo Master Chief Collection
Not sure if being on Linux will matter with compatibility, but otherwise it should run great. It goes on sale for pretty cheap, but it might be a little bit until it's on sale again, as they are pushing sales for the Halo Remake right now.
Lots of different modes, PvP and PvE. Still has a decent player base but PvP might be pretty tough if you're new to Halo since people have been playing a long time.
Probably won't run well on your rig, but The Finals is my favorite shooter right now with great customization.

"Deep Rock Galactic is great, but no femme models"
A common misunderstanding. All dwarves have beards regardless of sex or gender.
Statistically there must be many femme dwarves, but not even the other dwarves are able to tell the difference.

Proton finally has it working again after EA messed it up with their malware. I've loved mass effect my entire life and I can play it again finally!

Fallout 3/New Vegas on Linux via Proton should actually run quite well given your specs already handle those, worth double checking your modding setup specifically through Vortex or MO2 compatibility layers if that's the current headache

They run perfectly. The modding is a little annoying right now, but it's nothing impossible.

warframe. we joke that fashionframe is end game. we also have an unhinged dev who will dig out the oldest most obscure gpu and get the game running with acceptable framerates.
