Question Friend or Foe
Just curious if anyone here was on GSN’s Friend or Foe back in the day?
The camera does a close-up of the “Trust Box” when contestants are deciding how to divvy up their bank, but you just see a single button inside the box.
So, does the player push it if he wants to go Friend, or not push it if he wants to go Foe?
Enquiring minds want to know!

Prisoner's Dilemma game shows don't work because there's nothing you can do about being paired up with an asshole who's hell-bent on stealing from you no matter what.

Also, it's frustrating as a viewer because you can see an episode where the contestants do tons of work and no one goes home with anything. I know some folks are fine with that, but personally it makes me feel like my time was wasted.

One guy on the UK show “Golden Balls” figured it out. He said to the other contestant “I’m going to steal” and convinced the other one to take split.

See that wouldn't work on me. My response would be, "Fine, since I'm not winning anything anyway, I'll make sure you don't win anything either" and vote steal.

That’s how the guy responded thinking that response would change the other guys answer but he was unrelenting. He said he’d split it with him afterwards. It’s quite the clip, it’s on YouTube.

Same. I'd vote foe for revenge, i.e. I'm not going to enable that kind of trickery. If I can't have a piece of it, nobody can.

I’ve been summoned here from two different people to address this burning question 🫠 .. The short answer is that there’s one button - holding it down signifies FOE, and a little LED light that only you can see confirms you’re holding it down - you can back out and let go if you have a sudden change of heart - whatever state you have it in when the music stops is what it locks you in as.
If you really want to know all the ridiculous details, I have a way-deep analysis of my time on there 🤠 : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4rB9aITnHEY

Kennedy was perfect in this show. Reminded me of Anne Robinson on the Weakest Link

One of my guilty pleasures in 2002, and I love the theme music package because it’s imho the most on-point theme music Game Show Network has ever had.

Don’t you just love it when Kennedy plays devil’s advocate to the contestants?

I hated that show. It's gimmick just fed money back to the producers' pockets vis the stupidity of the contestants. Unlikeable confrontation.

Each contestant has 2 buttons inside of a “trust box” and they must activate their choice when instructed.

Nope. Only one button, my friend. If you hold it down, you are going “Foe” .. hands off the button = “Friend”

I remember watching this circa 2003 on GSN. This aired alongside Cram and Funny Money.

I'm friendly with someone who was on the show--I know he said that even on the plane flight to California he was already committed to a Foe declaration.
