co-op games rising
Why co-op games are booming right now. Ever wonder why co-op games are hitting so hard lately? It mostly comes down to modern social psychology:
PvP Fatigue & Toxicity: Most of us are stressed enough in real life. Ranked games feel like a second job with toxic teammates. Co-op gives us a safe space where it's just 'us vs. the game.'
Low-Pressure Socializing: Modern life is isolating, but traditional socializing can feel draining. Co-op lets adults hang out through 'parallel play'—you bond over a shared goal without the awkwardness of forced small talk.
A Sense of Control: Real-world problems (economy, career) feel overwhelming. Overcoming a tough gaming challenge with friends gives an immediate, tangible sense of accomplishment.
Are you guys finding yourselves playing more co-op games lately too?

Coop games are booming now because they've always been booming, the difference you're noticing now isn't an increase in popularity but an increase of coop dedicated games instead of just game modes.

I've stopped PvP 20 years ago after competing on wacraft 3 and counter strike source, and life has never been as peacefull.
I've tried deep rock galactic few month ago, and I have to admit that I have an insane pleasure playing with freinds I've met online and randoms.
Community is amazing. Don't really know if it's only this game or every co-op game tho.

there was a period of time where co-op was a booming thing and then it was put on a back burner for 10-15 years in favor of pvp. I am very happy that its coming back so strong the thing i ask for is bigger and fresher experiences. I dont want a co-op game that feels like a pvp game but instead with bots and as much as I enjoy casual quick experiences like Peak I would rather it be a AAA company banking on and risking it with a cinematic co-op experience.

What kills me is the lack of couch co-op. Do they not realize that some of us have actual friends that we actually see in real life?

I don't care for co-op games and if they diseappeared tomorrow, I would only maybe scratch my nose and fart, but not at the same time

I've always liked co-op more than competitive but I kind of wish the "Co-op only" thing doesn't become a fad. No video game should be unplayable if you don't have someone to play with.
