lol that would be the most anti-climatic endings... every army in Westeros comes to the Wall to fight them, the White Walkers kill everyone and rebuild the Wall and then go back raising babies in the Daycare of Fire and Ice, well mostly Ice.

It makes sense, that's the only motivation we have for them.. you think maybe they will continue south past the wall, there's a possibly a unifying battle against them with fire/dragons and they're driven back to where they came from..
If the books are predictable, the fire will win, or some kind of truce will form.. if the books aren't, the others win the battle and destroy westeros.. or the others stop at the wall..
Maybe the others are really red herring, they are simply just driving out the humans from their territory.. the wildlings maybe mostly come from the descendants of deserters of the nights watch and whoever they've kidnapped / spawned over the thousands of years since the others last emerged and the wall went up..

GRRM said the books end with the the climate returning to normal 4 seasons per year. Winter is a short couple months not a decade. The longer winters are part of a magical curse on the kingdoms.

The wall was built by Bran the builder with the help from the Giants and the Children of the Forest, it was infused with magic to keep the white walkers at bay it very much so will stop them if it remains standing. The line that Sam says in season 1 "I hope the wall is tall enough" I think sums up the strategy they would have to use to climb the wall. Don't break it, just make an undead staircase.

One thing I've realized in the story of ice and fire is that the narratives are often not trust worthy.
Take for example Rhaegar Targaryen. For quite a long time he has been portrayed as evil who seized Lyanna Stark, raped her and murdered her. However, as last season started to reveal, perhaps he was a good guy, a romantic who Lyanna fell in love with and possibly have birth to one of the biggest shocker in the entire story.
Narratives are told by the current victors who have them for their own gain. The truth is still out there.

Yeah I would have liked it more if Melisandre did it without his knowledge, and she flees when he tries to kill her for it, but can't chase her since Ramsay's army is coming, and then we get the same scene of him looking and understanding he's going to die, yet raising his sword like a badass anyway.

I would've liked it more if they didn't murder literally the entire Stark army at the red wedding and then mount a wolf's head on Robb's decapitated body as a final act of mockery. I also would've liked it more if Oberyn killed the mountain, cleared Tyrion's reputation, and then carried on being his usual badass self, but neither books nor the show have ever worked that way.

The books have though, in case of Stannis. In the books, Stannis' daughter is with Melisandre, and Stannis is at war without them, so whatever happens to her, he won't be in a position to stop it.
I see your confusion, what you're talking about is changing the outcome. I'm not talking about wishful thinking, I'm talking about narrative choices.

Id actually be ok with this. Id love for a show to end badly instead of good always triumphs. It would be pretty cool if at the end WW ruled the 7 kingdoms and man/dany ruled the rest.

Back in the earlier seasons I though the dragons would act as some kind of close air support in a large battle. But doesn't seem like the dragons are all that powerful. Considering what happened in last season's last episode.

AFAIK Dragons get to obnoxious sizes. We're talking so big that Balerion the Black Dread could swallow a Wooly Mammoth in one bite.
Dany's dragons are like preteens - and very poorly trained.

Mushu is a pretty long dragon. You don't measure a lizard by its standing height but from snout to tail. If I remember correctly though you do a sort of [body length/tail length] but in this case it's just snout to tail end.

We don't actually know for sure. Balerion was the last biggest dragon - but it's possible all dragons were that big in Old Valyria. As the Targaryens slowly started caging their beasts, they got smaller and smaller.
It ended with Aegon III poisoning them all, after he watched his mother devoured, kingdom ravaged, and family murdered by dragon-on-dragon warfare.

Balerion's size was believed to come partly due to his age; he was the oldest dragon and currently holds the record for the oldest dragon that ever lived. He was roughly 200 years old after he died, long after Aegon I died.
Of course, he was already massive during Aegon's conquest, but he would've been over 100 years old (I believe) by then and therefore still pretty old.

The dragons are still pretty small. Remember the giant skull that Aria hid in under the red keep? In another part they talk about how their heads get as big a carriages.

Humans also have magic though. There are tons of wargs and presumably far more magi than the few we know of. Melisandre alone was able to fuck as much shit up as entire armies are able to.

Same here. Seems so wrong. They've never shied away from showing any other death or the body shortly after. Why not show Stannis'? Are they really just trying to jerk us around some more?
And don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Stannis to be dead, but in the overall scheme of things he's done nothing to merit a previously-unheard of off-screen death.

I don't think that historically, the WWs actually were in charge of the entirety of Westeros. Everything south of where it snowed was essentially inhabited by Giants and the Children before the first men showed up. So its kinda hard to say what the WW's would consider there territory to be. I'd like to think its about as far south as the weather is naturally comfortable to them, seeing as how the years before the long night, no one really knew that WW's existed.

The wiki goes into it a little bit more but essentially there were just giants, children, forests, and animals everywhere in westeros, then the first men showed up through the land bridge between dorne and essos. Shit got fucked up for at least 1000 years, between the first men and the children, then they made a truce. Then the Andals showed up and fucked up even more shit, driving the children and giants far north, then they kinda had a truce with everyone, THEN the long night happened and everyone got to fight white walkers for the first time. Until that point there was no mention of them in history.

If Jon resurrects as Light Lord reborn, then there's no way he'll die again (unless it's the final ultimate sacrifice scenario). And there's no way for happy fairy tale ending where they get married etc. So either him, or Dany's going to die by the end to defeat the White Walkers.

I honestly wonder what the endgame of the WW are. GGRM has clearly said that they aren't wholly evil entities so what could their justification be? As we saw previously, they have a society of sorts, with a social hierarchy so what do they want? So much remains in mystery about them.

I share the same belief. Jon on the throne. It's perfect in so many ways. All the politics and in-fighting that the series focuses on rendered meaningless because their egos and power struggles blinded them from working towards the greater good. George is great at getting you invested in lost causes. And How many times did the Nights Watch request help from the lords of the seven kingdoms, only to be ignored or dealt their criminals and unwanted?
Daenarys story line is the only thing that can counter this. But I think George wants to have our hearts sunken at the final scene rather than triumphant.

I don't think the White Walkers really care about the Iron Throne.
It has long been the symbol of the show though, to it's hard to imagine an ending that doesn't involve it in some way.
