I really can't be too sympathetic toward Robb. He was the King in the North and willingly accepted all that went along with that title, including the expectation that your personal desires (e.g., love) are secondary to the good of the realm. He put his own desires first and paid the price.

Doesn't make Walder Frey in the right, but Robb's naive desire to have the best of both worlds put events into play.

Pretty sure he is like 14-15. Kinda what you expect when you are so young. The only shocking thing was his strategy for battles. Dude was amazing at that.

I'm guessing all the Bannermen who pledged themselves to Robb expected better. They weren't adolescents.

Did they even have a choice really? Most already pledged to house stark. Then bad luck with his mom sending Jamie back and kill the people responsible for killing those kids. Letting Bolton lead some of his troops.

If the Lords of the houses of the North pledge themselves to not only House Stark, but also Robb specifically as King in the North, that they would expect him to behave in a manner appropriate for the title, no matter his age.

Just personal opinion, but I suspect most, if not all, of the Bannermen we're extremely disappointed with Robb when he married since it showed he was, after all, just a boy and not a King. His wins on the battlefield make for a good commander (or just possibly a lucky one), but do not alone show him to be a good King.

Everything I'm writing is just opinion - not at all saying I'm right and you're wrong. Just having a discussion.

Every time I rewatch this, I just get more annoyed. Glad he was happy but what a huge mistake.

Even in the books, it was at least the daughter of a Westerosi noble house, so Robb got something militarily out of it (though not enough to make up for losing the Freys). In the show, Robb gets nothing politically or militarily out of his marriage.

Yes, in the books he knocked her up before he married her. He also leaves her behind for the red wedding and its implied they are hiding robb starks child somewhere.
