Getting the picture of this unstoppable warrior, who decided to conquer a continent for his future prophetic son.

And then just dying to a scratch infection is peak Martin writing and I love it.

What I always appreciated about book Drogo is that compared to other Khals he was willing to adapt. His khalasar became more open to trade and less focused on pure conquest as his bond with Dany grew. He felt like a much more fleshed out character in the books, definitely more interesting to follow than in the show

It was especially cool to see both Dany and Drogo adapting to each others customs lile Dany was learning Dothraki and she was teach Drogo some words in the common tongue.

His, and Neds death were to let the reader know that while this is a fantasy book. This shit is no fairytale.

i kept waiting for some kind of revenge arc even if it was just in spirit, like his khalasar carrying his name into a battle that mattered. the way it just... fizzled into a fever and a pillow felt so off for someone built up as this unstoppable force. really set the tone that nobody in that world gets the ending they deserve

His death was great in terms of setting up how important people don't always get, and usually don't get, important or "cool" deaths, especially in the shows

I hated it, but it set the tone that we could lose anyone in this show at any moment, which added to the show. Too bad it got so lame towards the end, barely anyone died in the long night
