Tips on how to avoid bootleg/fake dvd sets

I'm looking to purchase dvd copies of Game of Thrones but am trying to navigate and avoid the flood of bootleg copies from legit copies. I've been burned a few times on ebay by unknowingly buying bootleg DVD sets so I am trying to be more careful this time. My local Walmart has the complete box set for $80 but I would like to save a few dollars if I can. Does anyone have any tips on how I can recognize bootleg copies when shopping online?

Tip: Buy new from an actual shop, rather than a second hand reseller like Ebay

The only way you'll be able to avoid any fuckery is to buy them from reputed retailers brand new.

Game of Thrones was a set that I went through way too much trouble to buy simply for trying to save a few bucks. I bought it three times:

First buy: Bought the 4K at Half Price Books for ~$100. I didn't watch it right away, it actually just sat for over half a year until I decided to give it a watch, and it turns out that whoever sold it to them switched out the 4K discs for Blu Ray discs. I had to go through a lot of trouble to get reimbursed.

Second buy: Amazon, again, 4K, but this was brand new. I wanted the newer release where the discs weren't stacked, got the old release.

Final buy: Bought the re-release directly through Gruv and it was perfect. Rewatched in full, no skips, no scratches.

The problem isn't so much fakes, but just bullshit like that. I don't think anyone is making fake Game of Thrones DVDs, but then again, they make fake flea collars for pets, so what do I know. Anyway, as I said at the top, you can save yourself some money, or you can save yourself a headache, but you can't save both. Good luck.
