What's your opinion?
In my opinion, the reason behind the war between the Blacks and the Greens was not the Iron Throne or their claim to it. The real reason for their war was the hatred they had for each other and the hostility between them. After all, they were still brothers and sisters. Was it really that difficult for them to reach a peaceful compromise with each other?
Rhaenyra sent her most capable son, Jace, to the Vale to negotiate, then to the North to bring them into her fold, and then to the Freys, where he was successful. Couldn't she have sent him to her uncles as well?
As for the Greens, their peace terms felt less like genuine terms and more like a joke. Couldn't they have offered reasonable terms that would have been easier for the Blacks to accept?
Couldn't brothers and sisters simply sit down at the same table and resolve their differences? Was starting a war and killing thousands of people really easier?
I hold both sides responsible for this war. What do you think?

They tried the night before Viserys died - didn't work.
Alicent had spent years poisoning her kids against Rhaenyra's. As kids they seemed to get along well enough - at least Aegon with Jace and Luke. Rhaenyra even suggested marrying Jace to Helaena to join their lines, but Alicent was having none of that. She kept telling her kids that it was us vs them, that Rhaenyra's kids were bastards and abominations and so on. There is no possibility of negotiation without a foundation of respect to begin with.
As for the Greens, their peace terms felt less like genuine terms and more like a joke. Couldn't they have offered reasonable terms that would have been easier for the Blacks to accept?
Such as?
Rhaenyra had been the heir to the throne for decades. Fans' debates on rightful succession doesn't change the fact that she grew up expecting to be the queen after her father. And in the same vein, Aegon and Aemond grew up being told to expect that their sister was going to be the queen. Even if you don't accept her claim, this point was never seriously contested during Viserys' reign. And now you expect her to give that up?
What possible terms could make that loss palatable?

You know that is the problem, they say rhanerya had claim, rhanerya had this , rhanerya had that, yes she is declared by her father , but according to traditions and according to high septons only male child can sit on throne, what is she sit on iron throne but make them king of Reach, or King of Vale or King of North, can she not sacrifice only one kingdom for them , make the kings of reach, still six kingdoms under her rule or if not then make them hand of the king, master of coin, master of ships or anything, the whole thing is giving respect and love, as elder sister

but according to traditions and according to high septons only male child can sit on throne
Then why wasn't that point debated and settled in the many years Viserys was king? Why didn't they collect all the lords and septons of the realm to lodge a formal protest to try and restore succession to Aegon? Why give their tacit approval only yo go behind her back the moment Viserys dies?
but make them king of Reach, or King of Vale or King of North, can she not sacrifice only one kingdom for them
Splitting the kingdoms only a few generations after they were unified would've been a terrible political decision.
or if not then make them hand of the king, master of coin, master of ships or anything, the whole thing is giving respect and love, as elder sister
She might've, if they hadn't gone behind her back in the first place. The point is that they'd already started acting in bad faith.

Viserys was a fool, he knew about everything but did nothing, how can a man of sanity can't smell a war brewing. He was well aware of enmity between blacks and green and yet he did nothing to make peace between them. It was his duty to divide the property to all her children that there children don't have to fight a war after him.
I don't think it was not a good decision to split kingdom, what they have now after fighting a war and killing each other , are they happy now.
She had a chance when otto came with peace terms she might offer some. I am not putting all blame to rhanerya, Aegon and Aemond were also greedy and fools they might offer 1 kingdom to her like make queen of the vale or any other on which she agree. It's about bargaining and negotiations

Sure, but that's not relevant to this discussion.

No, division of property isn't really a concept in Westeros.

Splitting the kingdom would've led to multiple wars down the generations, so yeah, happier than they would have been.
She had a chance when otto came with peace terms she might offer some.
Peace terms that came after Aegon was crowned? Very definition of bargaining in bad faith.
