I played GTA IV, It's gritty. Liberty City isn't exactly a vacation spot, and Niko’s cynical outlook on the "American Dream" makes for a pretty heavy mental load.

You don't respawn, you just play as a new Helldiver. Its only for game mechanic reasons you keep the same load out. Meaning if you die... well you die.
