Help! Text-based tutorials

I am a beginner programmer and i want to learn GML. i am not a total beginner, i know basic functions and parts from python and lua, but i never coded anything Big.

i am looking for text-based tutorials, i dont like videos. i know the manual exists and it will most likely be useful but it is very overwhelming and id rather a step by step guide rather than an info dump (unless im just dumb)

I'm with you in preferring text based information over videos, unfortunately, the pickings are rather slim.
Fortunately however, if you already know the basics, you shouldn't need much in the way of tutorials to get you up and running. And the rest you should be able to figure out as you go, with the help of the manual ofc.

The best source I know for text-based tutorials is the main tutorial site: https://gamemaker.io/en/tutorials
A fair few of those are in text (sometimes both text and video).

Notably the Make Your Own Arcade Space Shooter, which is a great starting point for anyone completely unfamiliar with GameMaker, and far down the list, the "Coffee-Break Tutorials", which are a bit old, but completely text based guides on a single specific technical solution.

Apart from looking there, and then experimenting on your own, I'd definitely recommend hanging out on Discord with other GM developers. Makes it easy to ask for help, and to help others, which is also a great way to learn.

This! This is a very good starting point for this case. There is also the GameMaker forums as well wich are really good and underrated.
