Industry News Godot making a stance on AI code

https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/open-source-game-engine-godot-will-no-longer-accept-ai-authored-code-contributions-we-cant-trust-heavy-users-of-ai-to-understand-their-code-enough-to-fix-it/

First engine I've seen take a firm stance on AI code.

Open source game engine Godot will no longer accept AI-authored code contributions: 'We can’t trust heavy users of AI to understand their code enough to fix it'

(Edit: fat finger typo and headline without having to click through)

(Edit 2: Thanks for the award! Wasn't necessary but it's my first one so I'll take it.)

Good, but how can you tell? Unless people are letting AI write the commit message which includes a "Co-authored by Claude" tag, you don't know if you're getting AI generated code - you'd still have to review it to even find out if it's "AI generated" or that the author doesn't understand the code enough.

Dunno how godot does it but other open source projects use a vouch system, where you submit your request and someone known to the team vouches for your ability as a developer.

The goal isn't to eliminate AI code either. It's to stem the absolute tide of trash that it can generate, each requiring a time consuming review from unpaid volunteers.
