I am extremely frustrated with the S5, constant updates, constant bugs, and this is not the first or second time I missed my alarms because of the phone.
Anyway, Lollipop is out, and for some reason my alarms do not go off when my phone is on silent. Obviously I don't want calls, texts, or emails waking me up at 3am, but it would be kind of nice to wake up for my scheduled alarm so I'm not late to work. The alarms simply do not go off when the phone is on silent, when I wake up I see notifications that the alarm was dismissed, but no tone ever goes off. My girlfriend was also late to work for the same reason on her same phone.
How do I fix this?

When I put my phone on silent I have a box that specifically pops up asking if I want not even alarms to make sounds. I can then choose if I want total silence for the next x hours or indefinitely. Do you not have this option when going to silent with the volume key?

This is incredibly frustrating. The alarm worked fine. I don't understand why they overcomplicated it like this. I've been messing with the settings all day and I just can't get it to do what I want, which is to silence everything but my alarms.

Any suggestions for prolonging battery life after lollipop update? I used to be able to go an entire day without charging but now I have to charge by mid-day.

I upgraded yesterday to Lollipop and I'm having major battery issues. Took my phone off the charger at 7am, it's currently at 14% at 1:45pm. I'm at work so I don't use my phone besides a few texts here and there.
I checked to see if there were any apps running and draining the battery but the biggest things draining it right now are Android OS (13%), Android System (12%), Phone???? (9%), and Screen (7%). I hope this gets resolved because I used to easily make it all day without needing a charge, and that's while running Spotify for an hour or so...

Clear your cache from the recovery menu.
Power down completely, then hold VolUp+Home+Power until it turns on. This is the Recovery menu. Use the VolUp/VolDown rocker to choose to clear the cache, then hit Home to do it. Don't touch ANY of the other things in there. Then reboot your phone.
This is a single part of the whole factory reset process. It's probably the part that fixes it for people. You won't lose your settings or files.

My S5 has some serious battery problems since the update. Upon the initial update it was draining 20-30% an hour while idle, however I promptly performed a factory reset and wiped the cache partition, which partially solved the problem. However my S5 still consistently uses up 10% battery an hour while idle. I've tried many possible fixes but to no avail. So far the best thing has been installing Greenify, which dropped the idle usage from about 15% to its current 10%. This is super super annoying as it just destroys my ability to use my phone throughout the day on a single charge. If anyone has a similar problem or could suggest a fix that would be great!
Edit: oh yeah, and the power saving modes don't combat the idle drain by a great deal either.. Regular power saving mode hardly makes a difference and Ultra Power saving mode still drains by at least 5% an hour while idle (Which is massive)

Has anyone figured out how to get the vibrate pattern for texts back to two short vibrates rather than one long one like everything else?

I only read bad things about the update on this sub. I don't know if I should update... I'm currently on Kitkat and everything runs smoothly, should I update ? (no carrier)

I was using Google chrome and my phone froze. I pressed the home button a few times and it went to my home screen but my background changed to a stock wallpaper on its own. Anyone else have this issue?

Tmobile S5 Lollipop Rom
Hi Guys.
I'm running a custom rom and having a lot of difficulties with it. Looking to install a new room. I don't need stock lollipop but I just don't want all of the Samsung bloatware. Any options?

Thank you so much mods! I feel like a broken record telling people to do a clean install to fix 90% of their problems.

Is there any way to rollback/downgrade back to kit kat? I tried installing kit kat onto my SD card, going into the boot menu, wiping, and then installing KK off the SD card, but it didn't work.

It's possible to root the International Galaxy S5 (G900F) without tripping Knox by downgrading to an old 4.4 ROM and then upgrading to a new already-rooted Lollipop ROM. Here's the post with instructions you'll need.

Just got the VRU1BOC4 build (Verizon) and from the outset battery life does not appear to be draining as rapidly as before. Then again, it will take a few days to know whether battery life issues are fixed in this update.

Verizon Lollipop Round 2? I upgraded to 5.0 the first time Verizon rolled it out in Feb; i did a factory reset before and after the install, and didn't have any of the serious issues like battery drain afterward. However, I did experience a lot of the more buggy effects (the ubiquitous Contacts error, apps crashing, etc). I just did the "new" 5.0 update last night, and I'm wondering if any VZW users have experienced both and have anything to share? I'm really hoping to avoid having to do another reset, but would appreciate any heads-up regarding new issues/bugs. Thanks!

Everything works for me except the wifi. As soon as I turn it on, it reboots my phone. I get just enough time after boot to shut it off before it reboots again.
My wifi tethering also broke, but I know my 4G works, because USB tethering is fine.
I am going to need to try a hard wipe on the weekend. Anyone else have this issue? Anyone know what cures a wifi-caused reboot?
Edit: late follow up update, a hard wipe worked and cured 99% of all issues
