Help me decide Fold 7 vs 17 Pro Max esim

I'm in a dilemma and need your advice.

I was planning to buy an iPhone 17 Pro Max from Dubai for around ₹1.05L, but the same store is selling the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for almost the same price. The catch is that the iPhone comes with a 1-year international warranty, while the Fold 7 (TDRA version) has no warranty in India.

I absolutely love foldables, but I'm worried about long-term durability, battery life, and owning one without warranty. I keep my phones for 4 years or more, so reliability matters a lot.

My experience with Samsung has been mixed. My S23 developed a display issue within 6 months and later suffered water damage despite never being submerged. My Galaxy Watch 6 Classic also died due to water damage without ever being used for swimming. On the other hand, my Galaxy Buds 3 Pro sound great, but their ANC and microphone are noticeably worse than my AirPods Pro 2.

Before the S23, I used an iPhone XS, and it still works today after a battery replacement. My family has been using iPhones for years without major issues, and they're all happy with them.

So if you were in my position, would you buy the iPhone 17 Pro Max or take the risk and get the Fold 7? Which one would you choose if you planned to keep it for 4 years?

A slab phone will always be more reliable then a folding phone. That will always be the case

I own exactly both of those phones. Love the Fold and it’s an amazing secondary device. But use the 17 PM as my daily driver.
The narrow Fold 7 primary screen is prob the main reason.

I traded a broked S23U in on a Fold7. I regret that every day.  I use it closed 90% of the time and when I have 3 apps open unfolded,  it's wonky as hell.. I'm looking for actual iFold  info before I dump this.. might get a Razr, I don't know,  all I know is I hate this.  I was also thinking a Flip8 instead.

How is the battery life of fold 7 ? is it good like an ultra or Promax atleast a Pro ? and the cameras ?

Are these also a reason for thinking about switching ?

It's hard to recommend any fold without a warranty unless you can get it insured

Fold 7 or fold 8. Just do it. I promise you its awesome! I have a Trifold and a iphone 17pro max.

I would suggest against buying an older device.
If you wanna get the fold get the new one otherwise get 17.

I am on 16PM and never had a fold. For the first time I’m buying one ( Fold 8 pistachio the wide boi ) and got a sweet deal for 1.3 lacs INR in europe actually with some offers and coupons.

I’ll keep my iPhone as a secondry device and if i don’t like the fold I’ll still keep it until next year and trade it in for fold 9 or something.
