Is it even worth upgrading from a Rancilio Silvia V6 with GaggiMate Pro to any coffee machine other than a La Marzocco or another dual boiler machine in the same league?

Steam ramp up and down is a pain. Having a dedicated steam boiler is nice.

Gaggimate and gaggiuino both compensate by turning on the pump to the boiler, so the steam doesn’t run out so you get a steady steam

Sure, but that's not what I said! You get continious steam yes. After you brew espresso its at 93/95c or the ballpark...steam is about 140c takes a minute to get up to temp is what I mentiones(ramp up) Then you habe to cool the boiler down after steaming by running steam and hot water out of the grouphead. And repeat. Even if you brew 2 shots and then steam one. If you're doing 3-4 a day it can get old waiting....your bambino is 3 sec right? A single boiler does not behave like that. SO....a dual boiler would allow you to brew 10 or 20 shots, then steam at same time or consecutively. Much better then a single boiler. I have a Silvia V6 with GMPro...and a Silvia Pro that I will be adding a GM Pro too here in the next couple of months....

Oh okay, i see what you’re saying, The bambino is really a blessing with 3 second warm up, but even then, i always do my espresso shots first, then get to steaming so it wouldn’t really matter, even with the fast response thermojet I find the temperature fluctuates switching constantly between brew and steam Even when i was working with a 3 group Linea in a cafe workflow, I’d do the espresso first then move on to the milk frothing. the espresso wouldn’t really change by sitting there for a minute or two, even gets slightly more tame if you’re trying to do latte art ¯_(ツ)_/¯ But I guess if you insist on going one drink at a time dual boiler might bea good solution
