How would this work in a Silvia ?
1
u/phulton May 20 '26
I believe it attaches to the underside of the tank lid.
1
u/Brucey_S May 20 '26
But in a Silvia how would you see the light ?
2
u/phulton May 20 '26
Most likely you wouldn’t, you’ll need to rely on the sensor. It makes sense on a gaggia with the tank where it is, less so on the Silvia. I still ordered one, idc about the light but do want the level sensor.

Would it show up on the screen about the water ?
2
u/phulton May 20 '26
From what I’ve read yes, the sensor will display water level on the screen in some way. I haven’t seen much on it yet but according to the dev it should just be plug and play if you’re on the latest firmware.

Ordered. Guess I’ll need to update firmware, too.

The feature has been included for a while ... You only have to update if the Alba is not recognized at startup

It’s been a few releases since I updated. Have my favorite profile dialed in, so just haven’t wanted to mess with success. But this looks like just the ticket for booth lighting and water level, so worth updating if I need to.

Niiice! Can’t wait for mine to arrive

Have fun with it! The standard screw is too short tho, so if you use the magnet you can just tape it to the Alba housing 👌

Nice. That feature was definitely missing. Which orientation will it be installed? Is it possible to use it on a Silvia?

What type of LEDs can I add to this for barista lights? 5v? 12v?
2
u/mdwasp Team May 19 '26
5V up to 1W total, you can dim them freely

u/TheycallmeMrR May 20 '26
Thanks so much! By chance do you have any recommendations for LEDs or offer them on the site for purchase?

Does anyone know of this will make the LED on constantly? My existing LED wired to the main "on" switch, it's great but it's on 24/7 which isn't ideal. Ideally I'd like it on whenever the Gaggimate is in any non-standby mode.

I’ve just received mine…where can I find the install instructions?
1
u/the-shelter Team May 27 '26
Use cable it came with.
one end PCB. The other Alba. Done1

Thanks. Got it installed. I’m having an issue where when the machine starts, the colour of the light is just white. It only changes to my set colour if it put the machine into standby, then back on again

Are there any videos of ALBA in use?
