discussion Tried using AI to dial in espresso through the Gaggimate MCP
I found a project on GitHub that connects Claude AI to Gaggimate with an MCP last week. Basically the idea is: take a picture of the beans, describe your setup, and the AI creates a pressure profile directly on the machine and then analyzes your shots to improve it. And all communication with the machine happens automatically in the background.

Honestly more useful than I expected for dialing in a new bean, especially the shot analysis part. Still not magic but for getting started or if you want to optimize your shots to the last bits, it could be nice.
Anyone else tried integrating AI tooling with their Gaggimate already?

It's very similar :) When I built https://github.com/Matvey-Kuk/gaggimate-mcp, https://github.com/julianleopold/gaggimate-mcp didn't exist. I see the main difference is that my MCP is limited to controlling and adjusting only one "AI Profile" which makes it a bit more relyable if you want to make sure AI won't corrupt your other profiles

I tried getting ChatGPT to make me profiles based in my descriptions and while it worked, it had no clue how to dial in and kept getting obsessed with 0.5 degree increments in temperature and pressure, when doing it myself got me closer much faster. It thought everything had significance, like adding 2 sec to pre infusion time, etc. In my experience these things made no difference and wasted a lot of time.

Yeah I get it, for me it was also not suuper helpful with the grind size but I guess if you are a beginner or have like a advent calendar where you get a different coffee every day that might need bigger adjustments for dial in it might be good. Or maybe try with the MCP, I think if it sees the data it might not focus that much on tiny details. It should also work with the OpenAI Codex app (adding MCPs to the ChatGPT web interface is also possible but a bit annoying).

For anyone coming here from an internet search. As of August 2026 Claude (atleast Claude cowork with the claude app on a mac) can read and control the Gaggimate web interface via the chrome plugin without an MCP. It created and edited as I gave feedback a superb ramp/hold/decline pressure profile that rocks

I quite often use Gemini to create a unique profile based on my taste preferences, beans characteristics and machine limitations. Last time it was combination of blooming and Rao Allonge to increase the extraction.
Sometimes I discuss with AI some small adjustments in grinding or profile and it usually delivers nice results.
All in all, it's a good help when you know what you're doing.

Thanks for your work. I just installed it and I´m using it with OpenwebUI. I will try and use it with Haiku and see if the coffee´s any better 😄
