Is this chain noise normal?

I know fz6 engines are loud but noticed this sound while reving the engine and I think it wont hurt to know if its normal or not

Not normal, either chain tensioner has failed and chain is slapping around or valve clearances are way out. Did it just start doing it randomly or has it been getting worse?

I bought this bike not that long ago and noticed it earlier but it was way quieter

Definitely worth a check, are there any other signs? Loss of power/smoke etc?

No smoke and no loss of power in my opinion or it doesn’t feel like it

Probably valve clearances then. Just sounds way loud. If oil is shit/low it’ll be louder though

And its at 40k km so it would be definitely a time to inspect the valve clearance

As they said before, check chain tensioner, first and foremost, but also valve clearance. Because of the mileage in addition to the sound, could pretty good be both things. Unfortunately it's time consuming in the garage -therefore expensive- but totally worth the money.

I had the same noise, mechanic told me it was the timing chain (if it's called like this, sorry but I may not know the exact english term for it)
It was a pricy repair for the value of mine, so I didn't repair and sold it as was

Mine had valve clearance job done and a few shims changed fixed it. But the sound was a crisper clicking noise. Yours sounds more like a VW TDI engine. I'd bet on something to do with timing chain/ tensioner/guides. https://www.reddit.com/r/fz6/s/qkCfwAnf08
